I really want to fix my slow Yamaha YP-B4 table. It runs a bit slow and it makes me looney! I have replaced the belt since I bought it, but it seems that this didn't make a difference. The belt that it came with installed was one inch too short, so I am wondering if this could have damaged it.
If I were to search for a new motor (it is an AC sync) could it be from any belt driven yamaha? Thanks for advice.

AC sync motors speed is a function of the poles, frex 24 poles 300 RPM. Why not try parts at Yamaha, they may still have one kicking around

Yeah, I think I am just going to buy a new TT, I figure this thread is just the nail in the coffin :)

I don't know how accurately this would work, but if you could put some tape around the motor pulley to make it slightly larger, that would increase the amount of platter rotated per revolution, hence increasing the speed. Another idea would be if you could get a fit slightly larger pulley to make it run fast, then run the table through a dimmer switch and adjust the speed that way.

Nah, I am over it at this point. I am just going to buy a new Technics 1200 and have a nice shiny new table without any speed issues. I thought about putting some tape around it, but I just don't really want to mess around with it anymore.
