Going to use a sony vw50 projector (not purchased yet) and would like some recommendations on screens. Does the higher cost Stu Firehawk justifiy the price over Da-Lite and Draper, ? Any knowledge or experience with these is appreciated.

I've used a Da-Lite model B and a Stewart Studiotech 1.3 Velux screen and the Stewart was better. No hot spotting. But,these were with CRT projectors and not an LCD like you intend to use. I have seen LCD and DLP projectors firing onto the same Stewart screen material and, while I have no long term exposure to digital projectors, the images looked good. Not on par with a CRT, but that's another issue. Stewart akso make a Greyhawk screen. Not having seen one, I would not comment. I have seen a Firehawk and wasn't all that impressed.Again, just a personal observation.

If you haven't already, you might want to check out the AVS forum. They might have all the info you seek, if you can weed thru the crud . They have specific forums for projectors and screens.Lot's of DIY's also.

My opinion is this. If you intend to spend a considerable amount on a projection system, don't skimp on the screen. It's as important as the image device. You'll regret going cheap..again,YMMV

another .02

I would reccommend any white screen, 0 gain. I have used my 92" with LCD and DLP.

Your going to drop 4,000? Nice!

I don't have any experience with any other screens as this was my first time screen buy but I would recommend SeymourAV as a potential source. They make acoustically transparent screens in case you want to put your center channel (or even the left and right speakers) behind your screen. Service was excellent, and the product seems to be very good. Price was reasonable too compared to what other similar AT screens would have cost me. www.seymourav.com
