View Full Version : More Secret Santa or "HH" Revelations

"HH" being for our great friends and contributors who are not Christians (I'm Greek Orthodox).
I don't think it would be in terribly bad form to perhaps include the sales receipt from your purchase along with it. We don't really know each other THAT well, and I think the possibility of buying something that someone already HAS is there. I plan on getting something for my guy from a major, nationwide electronics retailer. This way, if he already has one, he can swap it for something else at said retailer.
Of course this would not be realistic OR possible for the cheap screws among us that have their kids out in a boat trolling for lobsters right now (insert smiley thing here).
Bad idea? Good idea?

I had the same thought...
But... if we used a credit card, the receipt'll have our name on it.
How secret is that, Santa-wise?
I've been thinking about using a false return address for mailing, to disguise the source of the Secret Santa package.
Am I too paranoid, or not paranoid enough?

I've wondered about the return shipping addy also.... We could always go on the honor system to 'overlook' the shipping label when it arrives?
Sooner or later, most will figure it out, no? I'm REALLY paranoid at how my offering will be accepted - can't wait till the posts come in and people start receiving things.
Cheers,
Russ

maybe we can leave the more technical details (like returns and receipts) until after the gifts reach their targets (Why am I thinking of "Dr. Strangelove" when I typed that?) :-)
Meanwhile, this is a fun idea, and I've packed up my gift to send out tomorrow. It IS better to give than to receive!

Mine went out today as well.
So WhiteSe shipped to either Staten Island or Brooklyn. This is becoming less like SECRET Santa every day. My guy e-mailed me the day after the names were drawn..... to tell me HE was my Secret Santa. If I get a real clunker of a gift.........
To tell the truth, I found it quite difficult to stay within the monetary parameters set, and that was BEFORE I added in the shipping cost. I went over by a good amount.

Notice that, although I am virtually incapable of keeping a secret, I've been quite discreet since joining this venture... :-)
My SS gift shipped out on Wednesday. 'nuff said.

Regarding my secret Santa gift... it's going out tomorrow. But all I'm gonna say is, it's headed South/Central.... ho ho ho!

All we need is a little bumbling by the Eagles in Miami, and I am sure it will be NE vs Rams again,,,Now, that would be an awesome story filled SB...

Finaly got mine on its way today. Hope it makes it in time!
Had another box going to Opt80 and the damn post office refused to accept it  Said that the box had to much tape on it and that they could tell it had started out as Priority Mail box :wtf:. Didn't say Priority Mail anywhere on it and was nice and solid. Postal Service is becoming a joke!
