So I'm probably going to buy a second turntable for my system, and I'm really intrigued by the appearance and reviews of the Music Hall MMF-5. Does anyone have this table, or have any experience with it? Any opinions would help a lot.

My mind is still open to other new turntables in this price range. Why not a vintage table? I already have a Thorens TD125 MKII. Might there be significantly better options at this level?

I have an MMF-5 with an upgraded Goldring 1022GX mounted. The table has a nice airy sound, not dark, good bass punch and it is quiet. I use it to test incoming records before they get to my VPI 'table. I have no regrets about this table.

Best,

Do you use the record clamp that comes with it?

Every time.

I echo the above statements, right up to the part about the VPI. I don't have one.

Yet.

Yes I do. It works as intended. An easy 'table to set up.

Does anyone have an opinion about how the Music Hall would compare to Pro-Jects Xpression table? It's another one I'm considering, though aesthetically speaking the MMF is much more appealing.

I bought one a few months ago. IMHO, it's a very nice 'table, comparable to ones costing much more.

Of course, that's just my opinion...I could be wrong

Does the MMF-5 have RCA phono sockets?
