Hi all
does anyone know where i can get a suitable replacement for a Dual rubber nipple that connects to the tonearm lift, etc.
i fixed a 1246 but the nipple was missing, so i had to rig it up with tape temporarily.
any help would be appreciated.
thanks

Are you talking about the little hat-shaped piece that goes underneath to lift the tonearm, and usually is now found crumbled, cracked, broken or missing? If so, that's the infamous white guide piece that's now unobtainium, and home-brew solutions are the order of the day for now.

Here is a dual rubber nipple contraption (http://www.thepartypeople.biz/acatalog/507-Tie-on-Large-Rubber-Boo.jpg).

Thanks for the link-
funny thing is i saw the other dual rubber nipple thing already when i googled "dual rubber nipple"
saw a lot of crazy looking stuff, none of which had anything to do with Dual.

You know, one of those nipples would probably work.
I have begun to fashion them from thick slices of URETHANE car bushing. Punch out some pucks , then drill each 1/2-way through. Seems to work fine, as the control arm grips this material well.
Much better than a piece of insulation from Romex cable.

Does someone have a pic of one of these? There was another thread where Fred Longworth discussed having a bunch made. Kinda hard to do without an idea of what we're talking about.

This thing looks like, and is the same dimensions as, the little black plastic tip that covers the rod that lifts the arm when the cue stick is used.
I made the replacement clutch larger in diameter, but the same thickness.

The rubber nipple was missing on my Dual 1219 too. I tried several DIY ideas (glued on a piece of rubber, etc) and they kept failing. Finally, I just put a "blob" of hot glue on the end of the pin. It's been working great that way for the last 6 months or so.

the hot glue sounds like a good idea- would fit right to the rod.
thanks for all the ideas and links.
