Not sure if this is appropriate, but thought I would start a thread where you can thank your gift giver.

 I just opened my package of CD's from Veg-o-matic. You sir are very good at paying attention. There is only one post related for each of these CD's. So, yes you did good and I really appreciate it. :thmbsp: Thank You.

Received a package from CD Baby; is this an AK member I don't know about? ;)
I seem to remember a post memtioning CD Baby. I'll have to do a little searching.

Opened it up, was I supposed to wait?
Inside, a cd by Judith Owen (seem to remember a post about her also) and a CD Baby compilation.

...... so my research has led me to conclude that WhiteSE is my Secret Santa.

Thanks WhiteSE, I'm listening to Judith Owen right now. I like, she got some soul.

And thanks for the compilation. It's music that I normally wouldn't seek out but, it's one of those, 'if someone else buys it for you things', and I need to broarden my musical horizons a bit according to my kids. Thanks.

Hope you have a great Christmas and maybe we'll (Pats and Rams) in the super bowl.

P.S. Oh, by the way, if it's not you WhiteSE then, I'm WAY off.

Got mine today. Couldn't stand the suspense so I went ahead and opened the box.

Love the pen--color matches my car (known as "Thor blue". Car was named for Thor Heyerdahl, not our own Thor!) And the book's hilarious!
Thank you, Secret Santa, whoever you are!

Got mine a few days back and succumbed to it's allure after about 4 hours.

It looks like I got Santa's bag with several nice items, including some very fine music and a great concert DVD of Asleep at the Wheel; we've been "swingin" ever since!

I'm pretty sure who my Santa is, but why ruin it for the kids???:p:

Thanks again for a great gift(s)!

I got home Sunday evening to find my gift had been delivered saturday while I was away. Tore it open and found a MINT Stompin Tom album. I don't think Tom himself has as clean a copy. But Wait, I couldn't play it as I'd unhooked my receiver to take to my brothers. Just spent the last hour hooking up a little Sansui 666 with a set of Nakamichi speakers, for a 5 inch woofer the bass is EXCELLENT. I'm just about to spin the vinyl and enjoy one of this country's greatest storytellers.

thanks Kamikari and Merry Christmas to all.

Opt80 glad, you like the CDs, I bought one for myself too, great stuff from local artists, gotta suport those that play the music for the love of it!!

Yeah Krimney, some great artists out your way,I am an immense fan of James Keelaghan, who once sent me a very nice email explaining the origin of his name.Turns out his wife's maiden name is Callaghan.
Anyway you could not have done better Krim if I had stood their and picked them out myself.

Mmm, mmm, good.
Mmm, mmm, good.
That's what blueberry ale is!
Mmm, mmm, good.

THOR, your very thoughtful gift was right on target ... and my "poor tastebuds" are thanking you at this very moment! :D

You would have received a thank-you note from me sooner, but I've been out of town the past few days. I don't know exactly when your package arrived, but it was waiting on my doorstep when I got back yesterday (Monday). And then, as Tim mentioned above, I had to figure out exactly who you were... ;)

At any rate, many, many thanks for the "Maine goodness" - no gift could have been any more perfect than this!

All my best,
Brian

blueberry ale from Maine? Hmmm...now I'm not sure if there's more than one place that makes/sells blueberry ale. But I know I visited one of them! Small little brewery...great place...great beer...and they seemed like great people. But boy oh boy...them black flies were biting!

Many thanks to my Secret Santa for the now-classic Radio Shack analogue SPL meter (now, sadly, discontinued, I hear... soon to be a collector's item), thoughtfully provided with battery!

Well... given the return address and the beautiful card (showing a KC-135 refueling some sort of hot little fighter in front of "Earth in space"), I'm thinking that this particular SS may be none other than Almond, Toasted! :-) Thank you sir. If I am wrong, well, my apologies... and thanks to the true SS. I suspect I am right.

Now I can see what the Paramours can actually drive the Cornies to at my listening chair!

My pleasure, Mike!

"Marquee Moon" is a true '70s classic from the New York underground rock scene - it's an amazing album, and it was recently reissued on vinyl as well, so I figured that this would be a safe bet.

In a completely different vein, "The Hangman's Beautiful Daughter" is among the most psychedelic British folk albums to come out of the late '60s. It may also be one of the first "world music" albums as well, featuring an unusual mix of European, Middle Eastern, and Asian instruments. This LP is considered a minor masterpiece by many (and it's certainly among my favorite albums), but my wife finds it irritating.

If you wind up siding with my wife on this second album, never fear, as the second installment of my Secret Santa gift will be arriving shortly - the only reason that it was not included with the LPs is that it only arrived here a couple of days ago...

Happy holidays!
Brian

Toasted Almond
12-27-2003, 10:05 PM
Well, mine came today 27 December.....AND BOY WAS IT WORTH WAITING FOR! I got,

3 cans of macadamia nuts (assorted flavors)
a box of chocolate covered macadamia nuts (my father would walk over my daughters for a mouthful of those)
a bag of 100% Kona coffee. YEAH!
a very nice plate to put it all on!

THANK YOU Millerdog! Great gift man.

Mr. Hardy,

My pleasure.
