nope... metron M-200, I'd like to get more info on these things as they were marketed by cerwin vega but have all the earmarkings of sansui workmanship and pc layouts

... from the 2004/5 CQ transister manual (Japan) ISBN4-7898-4451-X

2SA909 SANKEN — 2SA1494

2SC1586 SANKEN — 2SC3858

If you need all the screeds of spec data, I'll copy and mail it to you. PM me.

The A909 and the C1586 are TO-3, of course. Interesting that your book suggests the A1494 and C3858 as substitutes, since they are an MT-200 case style.

Gonna be a little tough to shoehorn those puppies in there. ;)

Hmm ... I see what you mean. I didn't check the case style. I've come across this sort of thing a number of times. The cross reference for substitution in this book does not factor in case style.

Okay, I stand corrected. Just got a service manual for this amplifier and it was indeed out of the cerwin vega plant in florida. I guess they knew how to select components because this thing is one bad mother now that it's been aligned

How about the entire service manual...if you need bias and offset info, let me know and i'll post it here for you

you're gonna find that the M200 is probably one of the cleanest amps that CV made but watch out for the driver boards, they are seated into headers that will get cold solder joints over time... other than that, they're fairly rock solid:thmbsp:

Hello,

I'm currently trying to repair an M-200 that has the four main power transistors blown. The print on the transistors is "burnt off" and I have no service manual, so I've been unable to find what transistors I should acquire as replacement. If you could post the manual, and possibly hint me on decent replacement transistors, I would be very thankful.

I'm also curious how much an M-200 is worth if sold today, and what the cost of the transistors could be - I fear I might end up spending more than the unit is worth.

Thanks in advance

I think they used this combo a lot as the A-400 also used A909/C1586 outputs 8 per channel.

probably did...and i can see them doubling up since the A-400 was rated at 200/side into 8 Ohms, 400 into 4, etc, etc

I have a Cerwin Vega M-200 that has been nicely tucked away for about the last 15 winters. I ABed it against my Rotel RB 1090 and didn't like how it held up. I've been thinking about parting with it, does anyone know how much money these are going for now?? I saw one on Ebay a few months ago for a Buy It Now price of $450.

You really shouldn't post your email address openly. It's just asking to be pickup by a spammer and added to every list he sells. Anyone needing to contact you can do so through the forum's private message or by posting the information here.

Hate to bump such an old thread, but has anyone still got the quiescent current and offset info on the M-200? I was given one for free, a beast of an amp, but it seems to badly need some alignment.
