I've never delved too much into 5.1 or higher HT systems, but my girlfriends brother noticed that I set up my GF and her 15 yo with 2-channel systems and charged me with finding him a HT set-up for under 100 bucks. Not one to turned down a challenge, my focus on vintage hunts turned to HT. Michelle (GF) suggested that if i found a 2-channel system for him to augment his big screen, that would be enough for him, as he's not a audiophile of any sort. I found a system for that for 20 bucks, but I wanted to do better, because he has a huge living room and doesn't have many CD's, and his main focus is on the HT experience, so I figured HT setup would be best for him.
Only problem is, that the turnover I see is people going from CD players and 2 channel systems to dvd's and 5.1 and 7.1 HT systems. He has the capability to burn cd's and maybe a CD player might be beneficial to him. I had a 40 watt JVC receiver for him. this weekend I found a HT system at a garage sale.
So, I have for him a 100 cd jukebox player, HT receiver, main speaks, rears, and a center channel(which I reluctant to give up), and am well under the 100 bucks.
So, what I'm asking for is a little insight on the components, if any of you who read this might know a little about the set-up.
The components:
Receiver: Pioneer VSX-D466S
CDP: Pioneer PD-F807 100-disc changer
Front: CS-88 (needs re-veneered)
Rear: KLH Pro-11 (not a big fan, but should work for him)
Center: Advent center from MiniII system
Total cost: 60 bucks
Does anyone have specs on these or any info that would be useful? The remote is missing from the receiver and CDP. Any experience with any of the components? just curious!
Thank you for perusing this longish post
