View Full Version : Southern Fest - Who's goin'?
TWantiques 08-22-2007, 08:53 PM Made final arrangements with the hotel today. We are all going to be on the same floor (probably the 5th) like last year. One difference is, unlike last year, there are other groups meeting the same weekend and the hotel is going to be nearly full.
That means it's time to make your reservations and important to get it done. All the hotel details are in this post. (http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/showpost.php?p=1210664&postcount=38) The hotel is going to hold our block of rooms until Sept 5th, although I think I can get them to give us a little more time.
After you make reservations please post here or PM me so I can have a count of how many will be attending.
For those who might be making a last minute decision about attending the best way to be assured of a room is go ahead and reserve a room and cancel it if you find you won't be able to attend. I am also going to have a couple rooms reserved in my name to be available to anyone who might need one at the last minute.
If you have any questions or problems please let me know.

TWantiques 09-06-2007, 07:10 AM Hey guys, you need to make hotel reservations. So far the only reservations they have are from Richard C., Audiopeasant and myself. They are only going to hold rooms for us until next week.
If you have made reservations the hotel does not have it identified as part of our group. Let me know if that is the case.
One more subject:
What can we do to get some of those NC folks down here? Seems like an active group and there are lots of 'em but not a one has indicated they are coming.

Actually, I've never heard any of the SDA series nor the LSI series. Not to mention, the guy hosting has a set of Carver Amazing Platinums :scratch2:
5 hour drive vs 45 minutes. Chances are, I'll skip the PF and hang local for part of a day.
WhiteSE 09-12-2007, 10:10 AM Well, I just made my reservation...
Now, she said the check-in/out times are the same for all rooms...At what time is the official start of this shindig? because the rooms, hypothetically are from maybe 1pm to 2 pm late checkout...
Does anyone have a listening room they wanna share, or someone who didnt get one wants to share?

I have a room that you can set-up in. My gear is going in the hospitality suite.
John
WhiteSE 09-12-2007, 10:32 AM oh...who's knob do we need to grease to get our gear in the hospitality suite?
Johncan 09-12-2007, 12:09 PM secret government connections... sshhhh

Most folks with listening rooms are arriving on Friday. As I recall everyone started getting there late afternoon. There were plenty of systems set up and Friday night ran pretty late.
If you want a listening/selling room just for Saturday and Saturday night it is possible you won't get into your room until after lunch. We have one other Sat only listening room so as it gets closer I'll be glad to see if they can arrange for an early check in for both of you.
Terry
WhiteSE 09-13-2007, 12:37 PM ACtually, I got my room, it turns out I am going by myself, so I will get there on friday...and i will have them take one bed out....so i will sleep in my room...so when I lock the door, you guys stop the music...or keep it going so you wont hear the snores.
GordonW 09-13-2007, 04:16 PM Bring a big vehicle, Jack. I plan to bring the Seeburgs, assuming I can get 'em finished by then. Good chance that I will, since I have all the parts... just waiting to be put together. :D
Regards,
Gordon.
Urizen 09-13-2007, 05:27 PM Reservations made.
Thanks for the assistance in getting the rooms we needed, Terry!:thmbsp:
WhiteSE 09-13-2007, 05:54 PM Gordon, you need my Bronco for transport?
HomerJSimpson 09-14-2007, 09:51 AM Me and my wife plan on coming! Stll gotta work all the details out...
MarkAnderson 09-14-2007, 10:42 AM Cool beans, Rich! :thmbsp:
BTW, my pickup will be available (once Jack's Corals are unloaded) for anyone who might need it.
TWantiques 09-14-2007, 07:35 PM Me and my wife plan on coming! Stll gotta work all the details out...
Great! Glad you are going to be able to make it. Please go ahead and make hotel reservations if you need them. The Wingate is only going to hold our block of rooms until September 21.

WhiteSE 09-14-2007, 07:39 PM Is everyone getting a gear room sleeping in them? do I have to hide my race car pijamas?
Urizen 09-14-2007, 07:43 PM Is everyone getting a gear room sleeping in them? do I have to hide my race car pijamas?
No and yes.:smoke:
TWantiques 09-14-2007, 08:04 PM Is everyone getting a gear room sleeping in them? do I have to hide my race car pijamas?
It is certainly an option. One reason we hold the Fest at the Wingate is each room has a sitting area suitable for setting up a system. Least expensive option for those coming from out of town.
Unless you are bringing a ton of gear you won't even need a double room with one bed removed. A king room and the sitting area should suit you fine.
Terry
GordonW 09-15-2007, 07:36 AM Gordon, you need my Bronco for transport?
Not unless it's raining hard. My Nissan pickup will suffice (it's how I picked 'em up in the first place! :thmbsp: )...
Regards,
Gordon.
Strangeband 09-16-2007, 09:35 AM I'm planning to be there for a good deal of the event, but it now looks like I will not be getting a room. I live just a few miles from the hotel and will have to shuttle back and forth. I look forward to seeing the folks I know and meeting those I don't yet know in person.
jaymanaa 09-24-2007, 08:56 PM Dang, allmost two weeks to go and I'm allready getting stoked. This will be my third fest in about a months time.

TWantiques 09-24-2007, 09:10 PM Hey, we're lookin' forward to seeing you guys. Ken, don't forget what rush hour traffic is like!
Thought everyone would like to see one of the door prizes that has been donated.

Working and with the dust cover. Just about perfect condition.
A huge THANK YOU to one of AK's finest, jwrags, John Ragsdale, for this donation. This was not John's only donation and we'll be posting more later.

WhiteSE 09-24-2007, 09:45 PM well, i decided that I will get there friday maybe at noon...I need to stop at AudioAtlanta. I will have my Bronco with me if someone need moving power...albeit I dont wanna get stuck in traffic with it.
Johncan 09-25-2007, 01:13 PM Does anyone need a room? We booked one too many rooms and I don't want to cancel it if someone could use it. PM me if you can use the room.
John
WhiteSE 09-25-2007, 01:16 PM I would use it but decided that I will just use my own room with one bed removed.

tentoze 09-25-2007, 01:31 PM Odds are improving for me to make a brief stop in.
MarkAnderson 09-25-2007, 01:39 PM Define "brief".
After all, it is a 5 hour drive...:scratch2:
tentoze 09-25-2007, 01:42 PM I have things to take care of in Murphy on the same trip. Brief, as in Saturday afternoon for a few hours, maybe.

Have a great time all!
