Found that this made a huge difference in my desktop setup. I had my speakers way too far apart for my listening position.

Plugged my stats into this little program from the Higherfi site.

I used the width of my desktop to the left wall (it's in a corner) and on the right side to my PC which is a fairly large tower as the back wall measurement. The only measurement that I couldn't get to specs is speaker distance from the rear wall. Speakers are toed in around 10 degrees with corkboard on the rear wall.

The stuff I am using: Polk Rti4 bookshelf speakers on 6" stands (plant pots)
Polk sub under the desk AW something or other 10"
Rotel RX-855 receiver
EMU 0404 usb sound card
Foobar 2000 8.3 playing WAV files

For nearfield lower volume listening this setup sounds way better than it should, full and rich, very dynamic and musical.
