I read that last night but I couldn't directly find the article now, so this will have to do:

Because Steve Jobs is hard of hearing, the iPod is louder... and can HURT your hearing...

I seem to recall the iPod I have being equipped with a volume control.

Absolutely, and most folks think it sounds better louder and more compressed.

Then they will need it even louder as they destroy their ears inadvertently.

And I'm conflicted on this because I HATE the nanny state concept.

If there only was some way to show somebody's hearing response to them, and the change in it.

Anything cranked up will hurt your hearing.
