View Full Version : We Are Live and Nation Wide Wardsweb 12-17-2003, 08:25 PM Here is the official announcement for the AudioKarma Festival 2004. http://www.audiokarma.org/ak2004/ HBombToo 12-17-2003, 08:33 PM I was wondering how this deal was going to happen. 1/4Twin Wardsweb 12-17-2003, 08:56 PM I will be flying up on the 20th and staying at the hotel. Hope to see you guys there. Can't wait, going to be a blast! grumpy 12-17-2003, 08:59 PM Book your rooms guys. We are getting a pretty sweet rate Fisherdude 12-17-2003, 09:12 PM My room is booked! The person who answered the phone, however, had no knowledge of the event, and was unable to give me the special rate. He's going to check on it! The rack rate is $129/night, so I'll definitely check back in a day or two to make sure I got the AK rate. I'm looking forward to this! Clay grumpy 12-17-2003, 09:43 PM Clay The arrangement's were made late today probably not entered into the computer yet. Our room rate is 69.00 a nite. I will take care of your room tomorrow. Grumpy DingusBoy 12-17-2003, 10:18 PM Wow, This thing has grown to very exciting proportions. Fantastic, Something to get excited for in Febraury. VinylHanger 12-17-2003, 11:04 PM What the heck Ding.......Ain't Valentine's Day enough excitement for one month? :p: I sure wish I could be there, just not enough income this time of year, though if it is as big of a success as it should be, I will be putting away the pennies the rest of the year for next year's event. One good thing, I do have my wifes blessing if I can find the dough, so I'll be looking under the couch cushions in the morning. Wardsweb 12-19-2003, 10:40 AM Classic Audio Reproductions has joined our little gathering. http://audiokarma.org/ak2004 bully 12-19-2003, 10:56 AM Understand that I am single ... but, I do have a lot of vacuum cleaners ... If anyone or two or so would be coming by Lincoln on I-80, you've got a crash pad here just for the cost of me showing off some of my stereos. I do have a bunch of gear we could play with and swap around in different combos :dunno:   :D VinylHanger 12-19-2003, 08:54 PM :lmao: Reading between the lines...........I need help moving my stuff around because it is so freakin' heavy and I have too much of it, if we get a chance to turn it on, that would be a bonus :D bully 12-20-2003, 03:03 PM That transparent, am I? ;) The offer of rest and refreshment remains. rhinofly 12-30-2003, 04:38 PM This looks fun. It sounds like a blast getting to compare lots of different cool old gear side by side. I wish I could go:( grumpy 01-03-2004, 02:11 PM Just got back from a shop near me called Audio Dimensions and its in the works for them to bring out a set of Maggie 1.6's and Tube amplification. If you folks have never heard these you are in for a treat. grumpy MikE 01-03-2004, 03:36 PM Just make sure it's a tube amp with "big balls"! And if you catch me spending too much time camped out with the Maggies please remind me I've got some horns to listen to! MikE EchoWars 01-18-2004, 07:12 PM After hemming and hawing about being there (Feb isn't exactly the best month to be on the road in the northern part of the US), I decided that I'd like to attend. Certainly one factor is that...what the hell would be the problem with this picture if the Member of the Year doesn't show up..?? ;) Certainly another is that there are a lot of guys I want to meet, and a lot of gear I'd like to ogle over. So.....if the weather Gods are at least semi-cooperative, I plan on being there. Reel 2 Reel 01-18-2004, 07:19 PM Far Out Man!!!!!!:thmbsp: Wardsweb 01-18-2004, 08:06 PM Wooo Hooo! Echo my man, it will be great to meet you and talk audio, of course. BrianB 01-18-2004, 11:49 PM Fantastic - I'm looking forward to meeting you, EchoWars! You do realize that you'll have to wear a crown for the duration of the event, don't you? Would anyone here able to provide a crown? (Or is there perhaps a Burger King in the vicinity of the hotel?) Now, regarding gonefishin's unfortunate absence from the event: I say that we send an AK special-ops team to crash his exam with a keg in tow, and to set fire to a box of transistors under one of the smoke detectors when there are five minutes remaining to complete the test. Is anyone up for this assignment? Cheers, Brian Kamakiri 01-19-2004, 06:24 AM Wow!!! That is EXCELLENT! Sounds like an award presentation is in order :) grumpy 01-19-2004, 08:52 AM Echo Thats cool ! look forward to meeting you. Brian You are a mad man. :D I think my daughter will not miss her pretty pretty princes games crown so we got that end covered ;) Looking forward to meeting all of youse guys. Grumpy botrytis 01-19-2004, 11:29 AM Hey Grump, Could we try to get this company interested in coming? http://www.salksound.com They have some interesting looking speakers and are loacted in MI!! Dave grumpy 01-19-2004, 03:07 PM Dave We have very limited space available. I am a bit burned out on courting companies to attend but if you like feel free to contact them. If they are interested they can contact me. Thanks Grumpy botrytis 01-19-2004, 04:37 PM Grump, I contacted them, but no reply yet. I will keep you informed. Do we want to post, about AK Fest, on other audio forums? I am just wondering as to what everyone thinks? Dave Wardsweb 01-19-2004, 04:43 PM I believe the final consensus was we wouldn't advertise on the other boards, but would allow anyone. Thus we get mostly AK members and their friends. Especially with this being the first time we have done this and wanted to keep it manageable. After all this started out as some guys meeting at Grumpy's. gonefishin 01-19-2004, 04:54 PM Originally posted by BrianB Now, regarding gonefishin's unfortunate absence from the event: I say that we send an AK special-ops team to crash his exam with a keg in tow, and to set fire to a box of transistors under one of the smoke detectors when there are five minutes remaining to complete the test. Is anyone up for this assignment? Cheers, Brian Thanks Brian :) As you all know...I was really looking forward to grumpfest...and I was hoping I could try out that little 45 amp and maybe a CD player of yours too. Maybe next time :( have a great time!!!!!! botrytis 01-19-2004, 05:18 PM Grump, Jim Salk wrote this... "Dave - I'd love to attend. But I couldn't find anything on the site about displaying product. I noticed a number of companies who will be there (saw their logos and links), but found nothing about the process of joining this list. I would want to make sure I had the room to properly display and demo my speakers. If you could enlighten me, I'd be very interested. Later... - Jim" He is interested in coming - can you give me any info - I will pass it along!! One more!!! Dave grumpy 01-19-2004, 05:28 PM Dave Either shoot me his Email address or send him mine and I will talk to him about AK fest. Grumpy botrytis 01-19-2004, 06:48 PM I sent him your email and told him you were the 'Big Kahuna' for this fest. He really seems pumped up!! I have read his speakers are really beautiful and really balanced sounding. Dave grumpy 01-19-2004, 06:51 PM Thank you sir. I will let everyone know how it turns out. Grumpy botrytis 01-19-2004, 07:03 PM ANYTIME GRUMPY - U DA MAN!!!! Sorry - couldn't resist :D :D :D :D  I am just happy I could help in my small way. Dave Lefty 01-19-2004, 08:19 PM Well I can only hope for those of us too far away to attend that you guys take lots of pictures and post them in real time here so we can all be there in spirit.
