A friend of mine introduced me to the Godfathers about three years ago. What a band! The can rock, write good lyrics, and appear to be technically quite good. Love the song Birth School Work Death. How come I never heard this one on the radio? And lets not forget Unreal World. Personally I think it was a conspiracy by the classic rock music stations to keep the Godfathers off the radio waves in Eastern Washington during that time period. heck they are considered a college band, yet I never heard of them while attending Eastern Washington University. Rockers unite, and check out the Godfathers!

I used to hear BSWD on the air in the Boston area back in the day, that was my introduction to the band.... And seeing how Boston is a "College" town, that may account for them showing up on the air around here.

Are they still around?

My first trip to England back in 1986 found me at old Marquee Club in London to see some biker band. The Godfathers were playing the following week and I grabbed a poster for the gig. It had a picture of Al Pacino from Godfather I. That poster hung on my wall for the rest of the college until it deteriorated from sun and beer suds.

They were never mainstream, thus would never be heard on an AOR or classic rock station. Alternative station or college station. I have that CD somewhere, they used to play BSWD alot on WHFS in Annapolis.

I saw them at Club Eastbrook in GR, MI about 17 years ago, can't remember who they opened up for, I think it was Lynch Mob. I saw a million shows there and lost my stubs. Anyway this bum is walking around the place staring at people and trying to get noticed, turns out he's the lead singer and that's his "shtick." Their song got semi-good play back in western MI and on MTV. They didn't get un-popular? for lack of trying....

There was another early 90's band named "The Brandos". Had a minor radio hit that was quite haunting. Anybody remember them or have any of their stuff?

That sounds mighty familiar. Man, I think of all the songs that are out there that so few people have heard. Think of all the tunes you would just fall in love with if you could ever find them...

Anybody remember a band called "What Is This"? Related to RHCPs in that the one member who ended up dead was in both bands. Todd Rundgren produced an album for them. Had a couple of songs I really liked.

Yes. I have their 'Honor Among Thieves" CD. I believe the minor radio hit was "Gettysburg". Great CD. Not sure what happened to them though. Good stuff!
