View Full Version : New Ann Wilson!
spaceman 09-12-2007, 09:14 PM Jeeze, I just got done listening to Ann Wilson doing an interview at the KZOK station here in Seattle, and they played the biggest part of her new solo album, "Hope & Glory". :smoke: Between the music & interviewing, it lasted around 90 minutes. This reminded me a lot of the old "Rockline", (do they still have that?), with people calling in from all over the country with questions & comments. I know about internet music, just never really bothered with it, but apparently a lot of people around the country like KZOK. Man, all I can say about "Hope & Glory" is, this stuff ROCKS, like sending chills up your spine good. She did songs from several artists, including Pink Floyd, John Lennon, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Neal Young, and even Elton John. I've never been a huge Elton fan, but hearing Nancy sing with him, while he played his piano, made me remember that I do like SOME of his stuff. ;) And of course, there was a Led Zeppelin song, "The Immigrant Song", which sounds a LOT better than I expected, though not exactly "like" the original. The thing that makes you really appreciate her, is that when someone "covers" another band's or artist's music, it's almost never AS good as the original, but she can actually make someone else's song her OWN. I mean that girl can sing. BTW, she has a lot of talented people backing her up, & the music is very good too. Well, that's my story, & I'm sticking with it. :D
birddog 09-12-2007, 09:24 PM Didn't she cover a Led Zep tune as well on this release? The local classic rock station has been playing a pre release track from "Hope And Glory" and unless I've lost my mind (A distinct possibility) I could have sworn it was LZ's "Battle Of Evermore" from Zep IV. The sisters are know for covering Zep in their live shows, and their greatest hits CD has a live cover of "Rock And Roll" on it...

Ya mean like I said in my post? :p: ;) Yeah, for some reason or another, they played it twice, during the interview, once early into it, & once as the closing song. It was kinda weird, how the normal afternoon music just kinda got preempted, with no notice of the interview/show, but I don't think anyone was complaining. :D
