Number 9 09-14-2007, 12:32 AM Any recommendations for integrated amps that have a really good built-in phono stage? df_genius 09-14-2007, 06:08 AM NAD 3020 and the Arcam Alpha series, Naim Nait spartanmanor 09-14-2007, 08:37 AM Yamaha CR 2020 both MC and MM and seperate line control. Nakdoc 09-14-2007, 09:49 AM There are a bunch of Harman Kardon PM series amps that all work well. Another favorite is the Onkyo A7090. If you want high end there are limitless choices. Number 9 09-14-2007, 11:40 AM NAD 3020 and the Arcam Alpha series, Naim Nait Owned a 3020 for a while, and found my old and current McIntosh preamp (C712) better. Maybe the caps were fading on the 3020, but I found it somewhat noisy and lacking in clarity. Quite musical though, can see the appeal ... Right now, I'm using a separate preamp and amp, and want to consolidate to one component. Budget to $2500. slow_jazz 09-14-2007, 12:07 PM Yamaha made a lot of good phono amp's in their receivers, pre-amps, and integrated amps. I own a CR-2040 that has multiple settings for MM/MC cartridges. cabinover 09-14-2007, 12:18 PM A/D/S was rumored to have a great phono section in their integrateds. I have one at home but don't know if I've ever wired it up for TT. It also has MC capabilities IIRC. Have to second the Yamaha CR-2020, outstanding phono stage to my worn ears. MikeO 09-14-2007, 12:24 PM My YBA integre has a very nice moving magnet phono stage. No MC though. dr*audio 09-14-2007, 12:26 PM For less than $2500 you could get a Kenwood 600, Rotel RA-1412 (See my ad), a Sansui AU-9900 or AU-11000. All have wonderful phono preamps in them and beautiful sound, and excellent build quality. JimJ[VT] 09-14-2007, 12:27 PM What's your budget? Pretty hard to answer otherwise... Duffinator 09-14-2007, 12:28 PM Get a Sansui AU-919 and have it gone through. With the money you save you can buy more vinyl. The 919 has both MC and MM inputs. Number 9 09-14-2007, 02:47 PM ;1350983']What's your budget? Pretty hard to answer otherwise... You must have missed it. $2500. Quite a few vintage choices ... anything from the current decade other than YBA? They are hard to find and audition. jcmjrt 09-14-2007, 03:19 PM Used Mcintosh MA 6500. Keep an eye on audiogon.com whyaskit 09-14-2007, 04:00 PM I always liked the SA-9100's (Pioneer) phono stage, lots of flexability, MM & MC plus it sound damn good! the-real-mandak 09-14-2007, 04:57 PM Yamaha A-2000 or AX-2000, really hard to beat units in anny way. The best recomondation I have heard of an integrated amp was Yamaha B-2 here on AK, he was sincerly thinking on selling his V-FET B-2 amps after getting an A-2000. And it might just have been the trouble of changin his nic here on AK that made him keep them. PS. The A-2000 was Japan only. junkaudio 09-14-2007, 05:09 PM not an amp but i use sometimes the pioneer receiver sx - 1080 for vinyl just sounds right with tt wajobu 09-14-2007, 05:13 PM Hmm...not mentioned yet, I think... Yamaha CA-2010 - excellent amp and phono stage (MM & MC) If you have a tight budget, a Yamaha CA-810 isn't half bad either. I still have my CA-810 from 1978 (it too has MM & MC). onepixel 09-14-2007, 05:31 PM From my experience these integrateds sound pretty darn good. All but the Marantz, are both MM/MC capable. Sansui AU-D11 Yamaha CA-810 Pioneer SA-9100 Marantz 4140 hakaplan 09-14-2007, 05:34 PM I second or third (lost count) the Yamahas. Normo 09-14-2007, 05:41 PM How about the Kenwood KA-907, MM and MC , I love mine. N bill irvin 09-14-2007, 06:08 PM Check out DR*AUDIO rotel a great amp I have seen and heard this one in person. darth 09-14-2007, 09:40 PM My vintage 70's Harman Kardon HK-730 has a very sweet phono section. It is only MM, so not good for LO Moving Coil type cartridges. darth 09-14-2007, 09:43 PM My vintage 70's Harman Kardon HK-730 has a very sweet phono section. It is only MM, so not good for LO Moving Coil type cartridges. I believe the A-401 is the " integrated amp " of the same series imready 09-22-2007, 11:37 PM the luxman l-100 is in my opinion the best integrated amp i've ever had the pleasure of listening to. mine is not functional at the present (don't ask, it makes me very sad). check out the features on this baby. a truly remarkable piece of equipment that was way ahead of it's time. cost around $1K in 78. http://www.thevintageknob.org/LUXMAN/L100/L100.html# imready 09-22-2007, 11:39 PM heck, i forgot to mention i paid $3.33 for mine. i couldn't believe it when i got home and heard what i had, i felt very lucky! wrayman 09-22-2007, 11:58 PM I'll mention the Yamaha CA-2010 again. What a good phono section ! Exceptionally quiet, and makes me glad I kept a lot of my vinyl. Good Luck, Mike vinylengine 09-23-2007, 12:51 PM The Cyrus One and Two had good MM/MC phono stages but they are getting long in the tooth now. Cheap though. Better still is the Shearne Phase 2, although its not terribly neutral sounding and can sound downright nasal with some speakers. LFD make an integrated with a sweet sounding phono stage option, but again its fussy about speakers. My favourite integrated with a decent phono stage is the Marantz PM94, a modern classic and well worth hunting down :thmbsp: Yamaha B-2 09-23-2007, 03:42 PM Yamaha A-2000 or AX-2000, really hard to beat units in anny way. The best recomondation I have heard of an integrated amp was Yamaha B-2 here on AK, he was sincerly thinking on selling his V-FET B-2 amps after getting an A-2000. And it might just have been the trouble of changin his nic here on AK that made him keep them. PS. The A-2000 was Japan only.If I had to pick one it would be the Sony TA-F808ES. Terrific integrated amp. You can read about it on The Vintage Knob. If you want the unobtainable, then the A-2000. But shipping gets a bit stiff. IMHO, McIntosh integrateds (I've owned the MA6850 and MA6900) have pretty poor phono stages (hence, the MA6850 rather than the MA6800). basite 09-23-2007, 03:44 PM Get a used Mcintosh, you will not regret it :) Sndsrtaud 09-23-2007, 04:38 PM A vintage Mc integrated- 6100 or 6200. Darn nice amp too! Strangeband 09-23-2007, 06:42 PM The Sanui AU-717 or its bigger brother the AU-919 would also fit the bill. reggaenaut 09-23-2007, 07:21 PM If you are not put off by the absence of a loudness switch the Sansui au 919 is unbeatable:mm and mc. A great sounding integrated, but careful when trying to lift this one. Unda Maris 09-24-2007, 04:26 PM For $2500, you would easily get a L-02A from Kenwood, if you ever find one. About 1/3 of that monster amplifier is phonostage. Itīs the most sophisticated thing I ever saw. In fact it is a phonostage with a volume potentiometer and a power amplifier ... If you want to invest a little bit (90%) less, I would recommend to look for a TA-F80 from Sony, which has an improved pre ESPRIT TA-E86 MM phono stage inside and also a very nice power amplifier. Unlike many other integrated's phono stages it can be widely adjusted in input impedance and capacitance. The MC part can be easily tweaked to be on par with the MM. bangsezmax 09-24-2007, 09:02 PM I'll mention the Yamaha CA-2010 again. What a good phono section ! Exceptionally quiet, and makes me glad I kept a lot of my vinyl. :yes:And I'll mention it one more time. The CA-2010 makes vinyl sound magical on my rig. |
