Proper Job!!
1983 was the last time that I last saw these blokes in concert, and last night picked-up where my Genesis concert experiences left off (from 1975, 78, 80 & 83); they just plain put on a stunning show--the whole package. They played old bits, new bits, short bits and long bits ("Ripples" from the 1975 "Trick of the Tail" and "Afterglow" from the 1976 "Wind and Wuthering" were the most memorable, for me)--for more than 2-1/2 hours. The show was Sold Out. More to follow once I can edit some photos from my trusty phone camera :naughty:
Aside from liberal use of their patented roto-lite technology (from the Show-co days), the back stage was a shaped jumbo-Tron used to display live video feeds plus computer animation, crowd images (I made the screen! :D); they also displayed some very nice historic band images...this is a 40th anniversary-of-the-band tour. Two giant brushed-aluminum-framed elliptical video screens flanked the stage (a very nice touch for displaying individual band and instrument shots during the concert). A really sophistcated show and a far cry from the days of the lasers, rotating mirrors, and Boeing 747 landing lights, but the quality of the show is from the same creative lineage.
The sound was just wonderful...especially the venerable Moog Taurus bass pedals at the appointed moments (I can't wait for the sound-board recording from www.themusic.com ).
Updated photos are now in Post 2 (these are from mobile phone camera).
PS: The award last night goes to Chester Thompson, the 59 year old drummer that has been Phil Collins' co-drummer for concerts for more than 30 years--another drummer with chops!
Thanks to Messrs Banks, Collins, Rutherford, Steurmer & Thompson for a very memorable and excellent show!
