Local searches want $120 to $180. This is too much.

Check sacd.net. They have every sacd ever released. Prices vary.

Anyway, those are crazy prices. I've seen that kind of thing in the past, and it's usually because just several people with lots of disposable income have to have something NOW that was recommended somewhere. Once the people who are nutso over it have managed to secure copies for themselves, the price will plummet.

I'll betcha that the going price falls to the $25 area by next year, if not by the end of this year.

I do understand the appeal though, it's one of my favorite SACD's.

Thinking about this ultra-high price again, where this title supposedly sells for $180 or $200. That's what I would call a very soft price. Anyone can put any title up for sale for $200, but that doesn't mean it's the market price. I'd have to see many sales over a long period of time before I'd believe it. One sale does not a market make.

What is the potential market, anyway? The CD issue goes for pocket change. There sure as hell aren't enough SACD collectors who like Alison Krauss for there to be that kind of ultra high price. Something's very fishy.

So, IF this price is legitimate, meaning it actually has traded hands at this price and it wasn't just offered at that price but not sold, it's more likely working on "the bigger fool theory" of marketing.

I understand that Rounder Records has gone belly up. The SACD's are no longer in production. I haven't confirmed this, but I've heard it in several forums.

Yeah, for an "out of business" company, they still manage to keep cranking out new releases and sending out promos.

I tried to order one from Music Direct and they cancelled the order after it was placed. It's no longer in their catalog now.

But - I Emailed them back and let them know that I was not happy about this.
Also let them know that since item was listed on their site - I expeced them to honor my order and ship my SACD!!
