Van Halen CDs- originals, or Remasters?

Want to pick up a copy of 1984 and of the debut album, but haven't heard the remasters compared to the originals.

Are the remasters all bumped up to make my "ride" sound good, thump thump thump, or are the remasters really well done, and will outperform the originals through some tower speakers in my living room?

Anyone compare the remasters to the originals?

The remasters are way better. A huge improvement.

I am in the process of replacing my VH catalog slowly with the new remasters.
To me the remasters are the way to go. Although with some artists newly remastered catalog they include extra tracks like demos and live stuff. Which don't get me wrong is way cool! But I like the fact that the VH catalog is straight up without the extras. What is really nice is the attention to the original artwork that gets skewed sometimes during early CD releases.
Of course the sound is the most important thing, Right!? Well they sound great. They are not all pumped up to the point that they distort like some remaster releases. I also like the fact that they are standard jewel case releases versus cardboard sleeves like the AC/DC remasters. I guess thats just a matter of preference.
I'd say all in all they outshine the originals in both presentation & sound, but then again its just IMHO.
If you want the quick and to the point version? THEY ROCK!@:guitar::rockon:
