Well, I was downtown yesterday, so I stopped at the Goodwill on the way home, looking for audio treasures. I saw something a little unusual this time, 3 different turntables, so started looking at them, and noticed the unmistakable Sansui logo on one. It was a model I'd never heard of here, but I thought it might be worth grabbing, but when I picked it up, I realized it wasn't "quite" what I was hoping for. It couldn't have weighed more than 7 or 8 pounds, but the real heartbreaker was when I noticed that the cardboard baseplate was literally stapled on. :sigh: :D I think finding certain items is worse than finding nothing.

I have two cheap Sansui TT's and an SR-838. The cheap ones spec very close the 838.
They are nowhere close to the weight or quality of the 838 but they play records just fine. I use one in the shop and one is used to test phono inputs of amps and receivers.
The 838 is, of course, in my main system. It is rock solid.

Sorry, I should have said. One was a Pioneer & one was a Technics, but they were both also of very low quality, and none of them had headshells, & were just too iffy to take a chance on. But ya never know when one of the good ones will pop up, so I'm sure I'll keep looking.
