I have been cleaning the pots on a 717 but I'm still losing volume on the left channel. When I started to take the cover plate off the volume control I stopped because it felt like something was pushing up on the cover. Like some springs or something. Are there any springs or other small pieces that might pop out or fall out when the cover plate is removed?? If I remove the plate, can I just spray cleaner all inside the pot?

I presume you have tried to spray cleaner in the pot with thcover on and it did not do the trick. There usually is no spring loaded mechanism in the pot, but it may be wise to do the disassembly with the pot inside a large zip lock type bag to catch any parts?!?!?

Don't dis-assemble it, if you loosen the screws about 1/32" that gives enough slack to get Deoxit into the control, then just snug up the screws again.

Would anyone know where I can get a scematic and owners manaul on a Sansui 6500
Also - does anyone know of a good service center in Houston Texas that would work on this unit?
