We needed a recording device to record the services at church and I got a second-hand Marantz Professional CDR-500 Cd recorder.
It appears to record properly but the disc cannot be read by conventional CD players. The recorded disc will play back fine on both trays of the Marantz unit. I have done the finalize process after recording but maybe there is a step I'm overlooking?
When I tried to read the disc on a computer it said it could not read the table of contents.

The weird thing is that the first time I tested the unit at my workshop the disc I recorded played fine on a regular CD player.

Any advice from someone who uses this unit will be appreciated!

Ran into the same problem when using "data" discs for music. Some players had problems reading them. Try some that are "flagged" for music and see what happens. You finalized the discs, so they should be good to go.

I decided to try to finalize the disc again and the display then said "CD" rather than "CD-R" and lo and behold, I took it to a regular CD player and it played fine. I guess I know now to make sure the display says "CD" after running the finalize process.
Not sure what went wrong on the first finalize process.
I did get some of the "Music" CD's too but it seems like regular CD's should work as long as the finalize process goes right.
