View Full Version : AudioKarma Member of the Year 2003
Kamakiri 12-31-2003, 01:07 PM As the year 2003 comes to a close, we'd like to do a little something special for a specially selected member of our forum, in giving the very first AudioKarma Member of the Year award.
This member should represent the very best of what AK has grown to become.....it could be a good friend, someone who has helped the membership to a great degree, someone who made you laugh, or just someone who you really feel is an unsung hero.
Rather than accepting nominations of who best fits this bill, we're going to leave it to an open voting of the membership. If you'd like to cast your vote for the person who you feel best fits the title of AK Member of the Year, please email akmember2003@aol.com with your screen name, the name of the person that you are voting for, and if you wish, a few words as to why this person best deserves the award.
The award will consist of a custom professionally created plaque inscribed with the member's name, and the title of Member of the Year 2003.
Please leave Moderators and Admins out of the selection process. We will tabulate the votes on Saturday January 10th, to give all members ample time to vote.

Kamakiri 01-11-2004, 09:58 AM After tabulating the votes cast by our members, I'm proud to announce that our Member of the Year for 2003 is none other than our own Glenn M., aka EchoWars :)
I'd like to share a few comments made by our members:
"He is easily the most helpful, most informative person I've never met. He is constantly offering free valuable advice on troubleshooting questions and the like. Even before he started repairing equipment, he would walk members through problems on and off the forum. A real assest to our community."
"A few words as to why this person best deserves the award - Very helpfull to other members. When given only description of problems his diagnosis is very accurate. Is courteous to others. His depth of troubleshooting and repair is now a rare and respectable artform. Without question Echowars deserves the
member of the year award."
"This is pretty hard because all the folks I would first vote for are
moderators. With that being said, I think the best person for this
award would be EchoWars. He is a great tech and an asset to the group. He has been helpful to more folks than I can count this year. He represents us well!"
"I vote for Echowars, he has helped countless people doing things ( including myself! ) and is one of the most helpfull knowlegeable tech people on the forums."
"My vote goes for Echowars, because he has unselfishly helped so many people here."
Congratulations my friend, my sentiments couldn't be expressed better. We're going to have your award crafted and sent to you on a custom engraved plaque.
Here's to EchoWars! :beerchug:
Kamakiri 01-11-2004, 10:02 AM I'd like to also name other people that were voted for amongst our membership, in no particular order, your contributions have made others feel highly of your presence :)

merrylander 01-11-2004, 05:16 PM Well, I for one voted and am most pleased with the outcome. Echo it is richly deserved and I fully agree about the other nominees, all great contributors to AK, congratulations all!
Rob
DingusBoy 01-11-2004, 05:21 PM Congrats EW!
Hard to argue with this outcome. I'll pack my acceptance speech away.
CarlV 01-11-2004, 06:16 PM Congratulations to Echo Wars! :ntwrthy:
Carl
RocknRoll 01-11-2004, 06:37 PM It really cramped the voting by eliminating the moderators. I think they all deserve an award for all their time and energy spent on this forum. Echowars deserves this award and likely would have been chosen either way.
Reel 2 Reel 01-11-2004, 06:42 PM I'm suprised that he hasn't showed up to claim his prize...I'm waitin for a speech......a long speech!!!!!
Echo has done so much for so many of us! Truly deserving....
Thanks for everything!

Johnny 01-12-2004, 03:43 AM I think popularity contests are silly ( maybe because I have never won one :( ) :D :D Thats why I didnt vote. But now that I see who won, it makes perfect sense to me.
Congrats Echo !! I whole-heartedly agree.
John
EchoWars 01-12-2004, 11:42 PM OK...to be honest I had my head stuck into a piece of gear the last full day...so I didn't know about this till about 5 minutes ago.
Not sure if I know what to say... except 'thanks!.
Audio is much more than a hobby to a lot of us. There is truly someting soul-stirring about hearing real hi-fi music fill a room and your heart. I believe everyone here can remember the first time he really experianced high-fidelity music. That moment sent most of us on a journey to create a system of our own worthy of the time and trouble we all invest in this hobby. It also put us on a plesant collision couse to the degree that I believe we all are richer for having met each other.
Glad to be here! Thanks ya'all! :beerchug:

Toasted Almond 07-11-2004, 02:17 PM I don't check on too many of these forums. I just stumbled in here to this one. I am flabbergasted to be the first runner up. I can think of people FAR more helpful and courteous to others than I. Certainly none more than Echo, who deserves this award 100 times over. To be mentioned in the same sentence with him, well...........
Whoever thought I was worthwhile, thanks a million, I am REALLY honored, but Echo's the man.
Man, I'm so played out. I didn't even see this contest, didn't even tender a vote. It would've been Echo.
