I'm really digging this turntable. I never used a fully automated one before. But I don't have an owner's manual, and I don't know what the LOCK/FREE flipswitch at the base of the tonearm does. Any suggestions? It doesn't seem to lock the tonearm in any way, so maybe it's broken. Then again, maybe it doesn't something enitrely different. Thanks!

I'm tempted to think it allows for the tonearm height (VTA = vertical tracking angle) to be adjusted although I didn't think any of these straight arm models had provisions for that. When on "free" can you raise and lower the tonearm at the base?

Whether the swtich is flipped to LOCK or FREE the tonearm moves and plays just same (which is why I'm thinking the swtich doesn't work).

An owner's manual would rule! RET USAF, could you kindly check this out?

Thanks, everyone.

No, you misunderstood. I don't mean the tonearm itself moves horizontally and vertically. I mean that you can take the base of the tonearm, at the pivot area and lift the entire thing up and down--like the pneumatic lift at a garage.

I thought for sure I had a P-750 owners manual and I finally located it.(The Lever) is a tonearm heigth lock lever.Gives me a opportunity to use my new scanner...

Wow. Great work avionic. Thanks. Now I know my turntable needs fixing because I can't adjust the tonearm's height.

The Lock And Free Alows For The Height Adjustment During Set Up. You Will Be Able To Manuelly Rasie Or Lower The Arm To Acheive The Correct Tracking Angle For The Cartidge And Then Lock It In. My Guess Is That There Is No Problem With Your Table. Simply Set The Arm To Free And Gently Pull Up On The Pivot Area To Adjust. Good Luck Michael

It's probably hardened grease. No doubt it hasn't been adjusted in 20 years. You might try spraying some Tri-flow teflon lubricant around the area where it would raise and lower to see if you can get it working again.

...pull any harder on this thing. I tried this experiment last week, and I shouldn't have to yank and tug at this thing.
