Friend of mine just picked one of these up at the local GW. Looks fantastic. Very heavy with beautiful looking macine work from the pics he showed me at work. Does anyone know anything about this table? There is vitually nothing online about it.

Very nice table your friend got there. It is one step down from the TOTL DP EC1 TT.

I have an EC1 and MitsuMan has the EC2 for sure on this site. I'd expect to be seing MitsuMan along anytime with his input.

Are there some specific questions you have?

What do you want to know? I don't have a service manual but have all the specs on it. The only difference really between the EC1 and EC2 are the electronics. Same motor, tonearm, etc. :D

I have an owners manual for the EC1 if you need any info from it.

overhang is 14mm (9/16") from spindle center to stylus tip. Just swing the tonearm over and rest the cartridge on the spindle and center a precision scale on the center of the spindle. Adjust the stylus tip to 9/16" and square it up with the front of the headshell. :thmbsp:

Actually we have no info on it and would like any info you have. Retail price, specs, when was it produced....anything you have will help.

That's what I got. It was produced from 1977-1979/80.
As I recall, when I bought my first Mitsu gear in 1978, the DP-EC1 retailed for close to $400 and the EC2 just over $300

Hmmmm...How does my DP-EC8 and DP-EC20 fit into the lineup??

Also, the EC8 does not sense the end of record...any ideas??

Technically they weren't in the same lineup. They were later models. The DP-EC10 added quartz lock and succeeded the EC1 and 2. Its sister the EC20 had both quartz lock and auto size sensing. The DP-EC8 was the straight arm successor to the 20. Yes, it sensed the end of the record, and had auto-size sensing.. I believe all Mitsu's tables were full auto, but varied as to whether they included record size sensing.

HI Howard...

Thanks for the info  The End sensor of my DP-EC8 is kaput. Dunno if it's a burned out lamp or... Need someone who knows more about it then I do.

On an upbeat note, I decided to try a pair of O-rings as substitute for the rubber spring boots on my Pioneer PL-L1000. Half inch for the top of the inner post, and an inch and a quarter for the skirt of the spring. At $5 for the 4 pairs, it's worth a try :thmbsp: Should know how it works out tonight.
