I just purchased a used M500 and am having a devil of a time getting this thing to work. I have an Actiontec model with the wireless activated. Just for giggles, I added the M500 to the list of "allowed clients", even though I've got the modem set to allow all clients.

The M500 boots up and says no music libraries found. I have iTunes and WMP installed and 100+ songs in the library. I checked the Wi-Fi status on the M500 and everything looks ok. It says it's connected to the ACTIONTEC network. It has an IP Address and a Netmask. The Gateway and DNS look ok.

I've read through the Roku Forums and found where some people have run into this issue, but I can seem to find the magic answer. Oh, I can play the internet radio stations.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is your computer using a wired or wireless network link? If wired, is the router blocking traffic between the wired and wireless segments of the network?

Can you ping the Roku's IP address from the computer?

Have you turned on the iTunes option to enable sharing of the music library?

Sorry for the delay in replying to your post. I have resolved the issue and gotten the device working. Thanks for your help. It's a great product. I've already upgraded to a Sonos system.

Does the Sonus and the Roku run off the same server software? Can you them both at the same time?

As far as I know, the Roku needs to have Windows Media Player installed and running for it to find the library. The sonos doesn't require that.

What software does the Sonos require?

What software does the Sonos require?

None, actually. It comes with it's own software, but it's only a controller (to control each of the zone boxes).
