Lucky me! I stumbled onto this site yesterday, joined and spent the rest of my afternoon reading threads while I waited for my membership to be activated. Thank you BTW.
My system:
Technics SA-818 Receiver
Technics 1710 TT
Soundcraftsmen 2215 EQ
Teac CD Player (?)
Sony Cassette (?)
Technics Cassette (676AUS I think)
Klipsch Forte Speakers
I've had all of my equipment in storage for quite a while. Now its time to break it out again. The equipment is in great shape, but after reading threads yesterday, I would like more information about this thing you all call cap replacement. I would also be very grateful if you could point me towards threads on this forum which talk about restoring your equipment. Tips & Tricks. Do's and Don't.
If a person were to send his receiver out to be professionally refurbished, caps and all, what type of money are we talking?
This material I se mentioned (dioxy something), where does one obtain this cleaner? Radio Shack perhaps?
Sorry. I'm new to this refurbishing thing, but love my equipment. They don't make them like that anymore. So, any information you can provide, please do. It will be welcomed.
