I was just wondering if anyone had any experiance with Coldplay on vinyl. I was listing to them yesterday and was saddened by the harshness in some of the songs and was wondering if the records of it were better.

I was listing to them yesterday and was saddened by the harshness in some of the songs and was wondering if the records of it were better. Zadok2112 10-30-2007, 04:00 PM I believe that a set of 7 inch singles was released but they probably don't sound any better. I love Coldplay but like most modern music it has been ProTooled to death in the Mastering process. I agree that it sounds thin and tinny. Trower 10-30-2007, 05:40 PM I was mostly refering to there standard 33's and I have heard of the 45's of all there stuff that was released. Figured that they were all poorly mastered and wouldn't sound anything but worse on vinyl. But I guss a guy could hope anyhow.... Tmac83 10-30-2007, 10:23 PM I have Parachutes on vinyl and I think that it sounds pretty good, better than the CD IMHO. I think that the Parachutes vinyl is warmer than the cd.I like a Rush of Blood to the head but I don't have it on vinyl, and X&Y I can't stand anyway. I haven't ever been able to make it all the way through the album....to each their own. Mr. Lin 10-30-2007, 10:43 PM Hi Trower, I actually won a copy of X&Y on vinyl when I entered a raffle at a now-deceased small record store. Truth be told I find the album a little boring, and I don't appreciate the fact that they "borrowed" the melody from one of the best Kraftwerk songs ever and it's not even a real cover of the song! But you didn't ask for a review. It did sound pretty darn good, but I have a great system. My experience is that even digitally recorded/mastered new albums sound better on vinyl than CD, provided you have a decent and well-set up turntable, etc. Want to buy my copy? :thmbsp: roboss38 10-30-2007, 11:59 PM I have all their albums on vinyl including the box set. They sound much better then import cd's I have of their materials. I think Parachutes and A Rush of Blood to the Head sound better then X & Y on vinyl. The 45's sound better then all the stuff list above. reeltorock 10-31-2007, 02:20 AM I have A Rush of Blood to the Head on vinyl, I was actually listening to it the other day. Gives the music some life/realism that the CD (also have) lacks. theophile 10-31-2007, 03:10 AM I've got X&Y on vinyl,I'm not enamoured. The music is inoffensive and unchallenging. Good background music(and I never use my system for background music). This album fits the bill.Good background music. I'm not criticizing,it's actually really relaxing to have on in the background. |
