I bought a Teac A-6300 open reel deck new back in 78. Sold it in 83.
This seemed to be a really nice reel to reel deck at the time. I was just wondering from you more knowledgeable folks whether or not this Teac deck is considered high-end equipment (as far as open reel decks are concerned)
Thinking about maybe buying another ...

Hi Turbota.
I have one in the shop that I use almost every day.
Like the 10 inch reels and 3-3/4 speed + auto-reverse.
Another neat thing it has 2 output for amplifiers and also 2 seperate input.
Not many of Teac models got that option.
Sound is decent, the 3340 model is better I think.
Recording section is good with options for different tapes etc.
They are popular and a good looking unit.
If you are looking for a more pro-model doing recording I would give Teac 3340 or Tascam 34 a try before buying a 6300.
For listening with decent sound the 6300 is nice ;)
We had a 1/2 track version of that Teac at our radio station in the 70's. It ran at 15 and 7.5 ips. It was a wonderful machine.

I got a good copy that I downloaded from this site: http://www.servicemanuals.net/default.aspx
I think that it was around $15.00.
