Those are great finds. They generally sell for about $35 or so on eBay. Enjoy!!

I've got a MFSL album titled "The Power And The Majesty". Side 1 is a recording of a thunderstorm in the Sierra mountains, and side 2 has a number of train recordings. Played at even moderate levels on my Infinity Quantum 2's those trains are downright awesome sounding.

Found one called railroad sounds AFSD 5843. Sounds great and will play it while running my prewar and postwar Lionel trains.Lionel trains and music what a sweet combo!

yes! there's a terrific photographer that photographed trains in the hey-day of steam, o. winston link > http://www.linkmuseum.org/index.html < he did most of his photography at night using flash. they're incredible images, but he also recorded the sound of many of the trains, and if you go to the website's shop, you can buy all you want. no, i make no commission, i just think they're amazing. it's a great cd to put on just before friends arrive and watch their faces as they hear a steam locomotive in the room.

I have one of his books. Beautiful black and whites! Very nostalgic.

Did you know that MFSL was originally started because of the founder's love to capture the sounds of steam in the fifties when Steam was being replaced?

I have a railroad 350 feet from my back door. Only saw steam on it once, and that was being semi-dragged dead en route to a museum. I don't think I'd be able to listen to one of those records-I'd just automatically tune it out!
I love trains but the railroad is kind of a noisy neighbor.
