Man. I'm running into this more and more. New releases / re-releases of digital recordings cut to vinyl. It is what it is, but now what? You gotta call the vendor everytime and ask? I called both Music Direct and Elusive about it. They don't really post it in the description and both said it's not I.D'd as such in the item number or anything. The new Coldplay vinyl releases for ex. MD was pretty snotty and vauge, while Elusive was as least up front and the salesperson offered up he had listened to them all and they sound OK, FWIW. Let It Be import release is another.

Is there a review/ news site out there that lists how releases have been recorded?

A local 'independant' rock station (92.3, WTTS) gave a review of the new Bruce Springsteen album and really liked the vinyl version over the cd version, which suprised me that it was released on both formats. Some research found the new Eagles release 'Long Road Out of Eden' is being released on vinyl sometime next month overseas. I've got a line on an importer that might be able to get a few copies. There's also a few guys on ebay that are taking prerelease orders... but is it worth the $40 he's asking? :scratch2:

The folks in the Music Corner at the Steve Hoffman site talk about this kind of stuff 24/7 at an extreme level of detail.

Almost any record cut after 1987 was passed through as a digital signal because they stopped using a analogue preview head on the tape recorder in disc mastering.

The CBS "discomputer" system comes to mind.
