My daughter is taking film photography and wants a fisheye lense. Does anyone know where I can get an inexpensive one to fit the 30 year old OM-1n camera?
Thanks,
Carl

Currently they list a couple of Vivitar wide angle lenses for OM series cameras. My limited experience with equipment bought from KEH has been that they are a bit generous in their equipment grading. If the piece is rated as UG(ly) or B(ar)G(ai)N, expect it to be pretty rough. The bargain grade is probably still student grade, though. The Ugly grade probably should be considered a parts donar. She used that thing forever! pioneervato 11-16-2007, 10:27 PM My daughter is taking film photography and wants a fisheye lense. Is your daughter trying to produce the actual fisheye effect or would a 24mm/28mm wideangle be sufficient. Fisheye thumbnail effects attached. Here is a CL listing for a 28mm Zuiko. http://phoenix.craigslist.org/pho/476836091.html pioneervato 11-16-2007, 10:34 PM Update. KEH has a 16mm fisheye but it ain't cheap in my book. $889 http://www.keh.com/OnLineStore/ProductList.aspx?Mode=&item=0&ActivateTOC2=&ID=26&BC=OM&BCC=1&CC=6&CCC=2&BCL=&GBC=&GCC= onepixel 11-16-2007, 10:39 PM Update. A wee bit to much, like one figure to much! But thanks Vato for looking! Rat44 11-17-2007, 11:08 AM Have you checked Pawn shops.Sometimes they have OM equipment.Good luck. onepixel 11-17-2007, 04:18 PM Since I'm figuring this is just another "phase" in my daughter's photo adventures, I don't want to spend to much time and effort scouring the country side for one. I've already looked in all the usual on-line places. Thanks again guys! But I learned a el cheapo method back in school that works just as good. Vaseline on the outter perimeter of lense filter. :D pioneervato 11-18-2007, 12:27 AM Several years ago there was a "how to" article in one of the photo magazines (Peterson's Photographic maybe) about taking a body cap and modifying it to attaching a wide angle door peep hole viewer which then gave the "fisheye" effect. Cheap and very low tech but produced interesting results. ProAc_Fan 11-18-2007, 01:48 AM You won't find an Olympus Zuiko OM mount fish eye lens for cheap. The Russians make a relatively cheap one ( less than $300) but I can't verify if they make it for an OM camera. Now if you daughter was shooting digital, any wide angle lens would do. You could just Photoshop the amount of perspective distortion you'd like to create the fish eye appearance. Mike |
