just bid on a set of akai 10 inch reel adaptors,looks like you
can turn a 7 inch deck to a 10 inch deck with them.anyone
ever use these on a 7 inch deck?

Yes, the one you are bidding on is for Akai X-355 and D models.
They can be mounted on some other models, but not very safe and only direct-drive reel-motors, otherwise the torque will mess up your tape..
This is my X-355 the "elephant-ears" I named her :D

If you have a deck with screws on the reel-table you mount one pulley there and these are belt-driven, the arms are attached with screws on the faceplate, adjusting the arms and be sure the 10-1/2 reels are mounted safe before take-off.
This deck has a switch on the back for other torque when the arms is installed, otherwise it will break the tapes directly..been there done that..:p:
