Thanks Scorpion8 11-17-2007, 11:38 PM NAD stuff came in series that matched components. Do you have any that you're trying to match? I have a 6155 tape deck that matches styling and buttonology of the 7155 receiver perfectly along with the 2155 amplifier/3155 integrated/4155 tuner etc. It does have a bias adjustment for recording and also does provide a "play trim" during playback to increase bias on other tapes. Very nice deck. ps - Welcome to Ak by the way. Where ya from? hugginduff 11-18-2007, 01:19 PM I have a 6155 that was damaged and I want to replace it, but the only Nad's that I can find that have both play/trim and bias are the 6155 and 6340, the newer ones like the 6325 don't have it, right? thanks for responding. Scorpion8 11-18-2007, 01:25 PM What was damaged on your 6155? The NAD 6300 has play trim and fine bias adjustment and siomilar styling to the 6155 expcept for solenoid controls. hugginduff 11-18-2007, 01:26 PM I'm from Cincinnati, but I am a novice "audiohead". I don't have other NAD equipment, I have an SAE 2 system which I have really enjoyed for 25 years. I really liked the 6155, maybe I will just find a replacement for that....or maybe the 6340.... I am surpised at how inexpensively you can purchase good used audio equipment on ebay. Although, today I saw an AKAI FX95 at $589 with 7 hours left in bidding. I dont' know anything about that deck....I still have an AKAI 510D that I desperately love for recording old 45's. I just had it cleaned up. I like the crunchy mono of the original 45's not the stereo CD sound. Scorpion8 11-18-2007, 01:29 PM What's wrong with the 6155? Usually very little short of falling off the turnip truck in front of a gravel-haulin' belly dump that can't be fixed on these. hugginduff 11-18-2007, 01:43 PM It had water damage, and the mechanics don't work very well, get stuck....I saw a 6340 on ebay...is that as good? thanks hugginduff 11-18-2007, 01:45 PM Does the 6325 have bias control? I can't find the info anywhere..Thanks Scorpion8 11-18-2007, 01:45 PM The machanics can be lubed up and sorted out. Water damage unless it shorts an IC or so is uallay repairable by drying out and replacing fuses. Yup, the 6340's are supposed to be superb also. hugginduff 11-18-2007, 03:11 PM Thanks hugginduff 11-18-2007, 03:16 PM sorry to bother you again...but do you really need a bias adjustment with a NAD deck? thanks Scorpion8 11-18-2007, 03:58 PM No, not if it's all aligned. The bias adjustment helps with finicky tape types and the playback trim helps with older tapes that are losing their highs or were recorded on a deck with slightly different alignment than the playback deck. |
