I get an afternoon to listen to the stereo without "she who turneth the volume down", (she had to work today) to listen to some tunes-yeah! I dug out Wes Montgomery's "Smokin at the Half Note" featuring the Wynton Kelly Trio (recently off a skit from the Miles Davis band, playing with guitarist Wes Montgomery. This is a must listen to for any jazz guitar afficionados, but the rythym section on this is absolutely stellar. Paul Chambers and Jimmy Cobb lock in like there is no tomorrow. I urge any jazz fans to check this one out. :smoke::smoke::smoke:

Yeah, that's a good one, here's another: Wes Montgomery's Full House. It's a live date with the same band with the addition of Johnny Griffin on tenor.

"Smokin at the Half Note " Hey what a great album ! One of my faves, I can play it anytime and get into it. It's worth at least 4 :smoke: haha
Another Wes album that has grown on me a lot over the years is "The Wes Montgomery Trio " from '59. Wes, Mel Rhyne on organ, and Paul Parker on drums. I bought the JVC 20 bit K2 remaster, and whatta sound.
"Full House " is a fine one too, as mentioned. Hmmm, not a lot of bad Wes out there, come to think of it. :D

Agreed. Found a copy of The Small Group Recordings from 9/66 on (gasp) cassette this weekend, and was floored.

I have never been more thankful to have not had a mouthful of coffee! Thank you for the best laugh I've had in a while. I didn't realize my wife had a sister I didn't know about!
