That is a great deal - the last pair that sold on Audiogon went for $5,900. Rare as hen's teeth. Really outstanding speakers, somebody ought to jump on those.

Well worth the money as those contain all the refinements gained through the generations of IRS models and compacted down into a single, manageable tower. These were Cary Christie's last hurrah before following Arnie's example and leaving Infinity.

Sure wouldn't mind having that pair around to listen to even if they don't have bass towers.

I read a review by someone who's owned both the IRS Epsilons and Kappa 9's claim that the Kappa 9's are better. The Epsilons are sure gorgeous!

Epsilons are fairly bass-shy and also have the 2nd gen planar drivers that are rare as hen's teeth. Once you get past that, they aren't bad. A friend had a pair, he didn't keep 'em long.

I saw the pair at AudioGon at $5900. If I recall correctly, the ad expired, no sale.

If I were to pay $5900, I'd look for IRS-Betas. Far more bang-for-the-buck.

Best,

The first two times they were listed on Audiogon, it was for $6,000, and the ads expired. The third time, the guy listed them for $5,900, and they sold. Go figure.
