I just stumbled upon what I think is a super deal on headphones for dirt cheap! I was looking to replace the headphones I was using on my MP3 player and at work. I did some research and I found that Sennheiser makes these really good inexpensive phones, the HD201. I checked out several reviews and people, at least one of them knowledgeable, seemed to like them. So I went and bought a set a Guitar Center for $25. They didn't have a set that I could listen to, but they said I could bring them back if I didn't like them. I am very impressed with the sound. They have amazing openness for closed back phones, decent low end extension, and very un-colored sound. Unbelievable, really, for the price. Newegg has them for $17.99 plus shipping, but the best deal is Target, online only, for $19.99 with free shipping! They are very comfortable, with a nice padded headband, and supra - aural design, so you get a good ear seal and no pressure on your pinnae. Now, they are not going to replace my HD580's but they really are sweet sounding and not fatiguing at all. I was listening to "The Lord Of The Rings" soundtrack and it sounded so good I didn't want to turn it off.:music:

Tyll at Headroom has always spoken highly of the HD201. I almost bought a pair myself, but ended up significantly expansing my budget and picking up RP-21s.

Glad you're happy with them. :D

How is their isolation outside of the headphone cups? If they sound that good and are quiet enough in the room I might have to pick up a few pair for recording "in the cans."

Isolation inside the cups from outside sounds is pretty good, so I imagine the other direction should be good. I would compare the isolation to Sony MDR-V6 phones.
