Yes you read that right. Have the airline charge you negative dollar amounts to fly into Detroit for the 2008 AK festival.

If you are lucky enough to have Spirit Air fly out of your city and your a member of their $9.00 fare club then you may actually fly for -$2.00 into Detroit.

I just got an email from them ( since I am member of the fare club ) and this is the real deal. For example if your in Atlantic city and attend the fest on may 2nd thru the 7th your airfare is -$2.00 each way. Yes they will pay you 4bucks to fly with them. Doesn't get any cheaper !

Sadly this only applies to a few cities right now. See their website for more details http://www.spiritair.com/welcome.aspx?pg=salesinformation&number=451&utm_source=email&utm_medium=link&utm_campaign=PayYou1206_3318616

See ya there

Thanks for the heads up, that sounds like an amazing deal. Looks like their only western cities right now are LA and ...Vegas, hmmm. :scratch2::smoke:

Could this be a scam where there gonna rape ya for more cash then stated for the annual fee's in the future? sounds to good to be true, pay 30 bucks a year and fly for more then free. If not thats basically the most amazing deal ever haha.

If this is no scam I think dad and I should join up, this could make the trip for us assuming that he can get time off work and we can get a room at the hotel n all that grand stuff!.

No scam. They have been advertising 9.00 fares for ages.

Not much on flying and know very little when it comes to looking for a flight. I just checked in Springfield IL which is about 45 min drive from me and they want $237.00 per person and itll take 4 and 1/2 hours . I can drive it in 6 1/2 hours . Anyone know where i can look to save some money on a flight. Springfield and Decatur are the 2 airports near me .

Very small markets like that, I wouldn't expect much in the way of bargains, or decent connections/flight times.

From there, I'd drive. You could likely get a cheap flight from Chicago, Indianapolis or Detroit, but rarely from small markets.. it's just the way things are...

Check Megabus.com, Chicago to Detroit/Ann Arbor for $24. Direct.. Looks like 5 hours to Ann Arbor, 7 to Detroit.

If that is round trip I think it is a great price for a small town airport. For 2 hours more travel time I'd drive since you will have an extra hour or so waiting for your flght and who knows if there will be delays or if you will end up like Rob last year and not making it home till the next day and spending a night in a crappy hotel in new jersry.
