You many have already seen this, but I wanted to get it up on the news. We have come to a milestone in our growth as a web community. Our size is out stripping the capabilities of our present server. So, we must move to a larger server to avoid outages, slow downs and possible crashes. The associated cost for this move puts us in a position of having to make a direct appeal to try and reduce, if not eliminate, this debt. Any contribution, at any level (as little as $5) will be greatly appreciated. You may use the “Donate” button at the bottom of the forums page. Clicking this button will take you to our Paypal account that can accept credit card payments. If you prefer to send cash or a check, please PM for the address. Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi,
I also don't do credit cards over the net. Where do I send a Money Order? Would like to contribute as this site has saved me a ton of money, gave great advice and warned me away from junk.

Figure it's well worth the $0.33 a day for this wealth of information. It's less than a can a soda per day so why not !

It doesn't even come close to paying for the friends I've met here or the fellowship factor.

I think I'll donate the profits from an occasional auction to the kitty. Our local NPR station, WDET, is having a fund drive and I'm going to do that for them, so why not AK??

If everyone flipped a turntable, CD player, small receiver, or whatever they ran across and tossed AK the profits, we'd be in real nice shape.

I was curious as to how well we are doing as far as these pledges are concerned. Are we raising enough to cover the bills?

IDEA: Is there a way to get a counter to show a running total of pledges on our front page (kinda like on Jerry Lewis) so that we can see where we are vs. where we'd like to be? This could possibly encourage more folks to contribute if they know where we're standing on pledges.

Also, on the subject of the AK shirts... does a portion of the shirt price go towards our site? Or does the price only go towards the cost of the shirt?

We hope to have AK up and running on the new server within the next 24 hours!

This new server exceeds the specifications of this one by 4 times in every capacity :)

The excess of donations that we have will be applied to a few new things here on AK, a lot of exciting things to come, so stay tuned :)
