First, I would like to thank everyone at AK for all of their wit, sarcasm, wonderful knowledge and general great enthusiasm.:D

Next, herein lies a tale unlike any other I have heard.

Well, a couple of weeks ago, I got a cryptic phone call from luvinvinyl, asking for my address so that some unnamed (at the time) AK members could send me something. We started talking, and he is a great guy to talk to. :thmbsp: Well, I sure was befuddled as to what was to happen. :scratch2:

Then, out of the blue, from ekmanning5, I got a box of Scotch 150 reel to reel tapes with LOTS of music recorded on them at 3 and 3/4 ips. I regrettably cannot play them now as I do not have a 3.75ips capable R2R deck. There is one in the works...GREAT MUSIC!

The same night, I got a box from beemer containing a tape head demagnetizer, which I have not tried yet, but I will get on it during the weekend.

The next day. I got a package from pioneervato, with 2 reels of Ampex 456 tape:ntwrthy:, and a Craftsman DMM, which I will be using for the first time tonight in troubleshooting a Pioneer CD changer. THANK YOU!

THEN, a H_U_G_E package came. Turns out, it was a FULLY REFURBISHED Onkyo TX-4500 receiver! W O W! Talk about a gift! it comes from Johncan, Bigstereo, rickr15, and spok I set it up later, and I now have my Acoustic Research AR4x's connected, and WOW! It sounds insanely good! I cannot wait to get my system back in order (under rearrangement) I cannot thank you guys enough. :ntwrthy: I still stunned. There will be another thread about this once I get my system reassembled completely.

Next day: I get a package from Jovinyl, containing a wonderful surprise: 2 SEALED reels of Ampex 631 tape, and some great U2 (one of my favorite bands!) 12" singles and albums! WOW! THANK YOU!!!

Now for today (the first package): from Doctordirt. it had come the day before, but the staff at my apartment office had left early. In it was the following: a SEALED reel of Supertape, 2 sealed Maxell XLII's (which I am running very low on), 2 sealed TDK D-SX90's, some compressed air cans, paint pens, a brush, and other electronic maintenance equipment and tools. Also in there were 2 CD's-the best of Kansas and Led Zeppelin 4 (4 was still sealed!), along with a keyring. The keyring could not have come at a better time, as mine just broke yesterday...

Well, all in all, I am :ntwrthy: to everyone that sent me a box, and if I get any more, I will add my thanks! THANK YOU EVERYONE! I cannot thank you enough!

vinyldavid , I just checked your profile-GoodGod! I've got clothing (MUCH) older than you! Praise be to the audio/vinyl gods that the Holy Church Of Analog counts you as a follower.
Seriously , in the short time I've been lurking I've noticed you seem to be pretty alright. Congrats on the new gear , and I think it says as much about the recipient as the forum . :thmbsp:

Nice. Now we know all the AK Saint Nicks ;). Great that your enjoying your gifts David.

Also, wonder when your Mom will pull the plug on the gear-input :) I'm hoping that it'll last for a spell more :).

On a personal side note: My parents called me stupid when I started getting into vintage audio at the age of 16 over here in Poland ... now my hobby is the subject of boasting to their friends and colleagues :). So there you go.

Wow! Christmas came early, in another amazing display of the generosity of AKers.

David, you don't need a 3.75 rpm tape deck to play those tapes. Just use your 7.5 rpm deck. Tell everyone who questions it that you have assembled the world's largest collection of Alvin and the Chipmunks doing cover versions. :D
...if you are really lucky, the mass media will pick up on it, and you'll get even more coverage, and maybe donations of real Alvin recordings! :D
