David, have you ever checked out the Music Direct web site? They have TONS of regular vinyl, 180 gram vinyl, 200 gram vinyl, CD, SACD, DVD-A, plus a boat load of audio hardware. If you have never checked it out, then I suggest that you do because...
A bunch of your pals here at AK got together and pitched in to get you a $300.00 gift certificate from Music Direct. Do to some slow mail it has taken a little longer than anticipated to make this happen so it might be after the new year before you receive it. The gift certificate will be delivered to you personally by Mitsuman once it comes in. We just wanted to let you know how much we appreciate you being here and how much we dig your enthusiasm in this hobby. Happy Holidays David!

W O W! As a matter of fact, no I have not shopped at MusicDirect. I have looked (READ: drooled:D) over their website. WOW! I am shocked! THANKS GUYS! I will start looking at their site now! I have heard that the Everest Pictures at an Exhibition re-issue is good from my emails with Michael Fremer, so that will probably be very high on my list. Also, my cartridge is shot, so do any of you have an opinion as to whether I should get a JICO stylus for my Shure V15-III or a different cart? I know that MusicDirect has carts....and record cleaning stuff. Can you guys come up with some suggestions that are maybe less than $150 for a cart and some record cleaning utilities? I think that those may be more beneficial to me, so I can really hear some of the records I've got, plus get a few new records that I do not have. AGAIN, THANK YOU!!!!

I may have joined not long ago but from what I have seen AK is an absolutely incredible community. If it were an actual place I would love to live there. (although you would probably need hearing protection to walk down the street :D). Next time you guys decide to do this to someone let me know, I should have some money and a job by then.

Merry Christmas all.

Wow, I'm drooling looking at the site also, you're in for some fun! It looks like they carry the Nitty Gritty 1.0 Record cleaning machine. I have a similar model, and it's really useful for cleaning up used LPs. in fact...I can't imagine acquiring and listening to vinyl without one of these. Have fun! :music::thmbsp:

I think that those may be more beneficial to me, so I can really hear the 1000+ records I've got, plus get a few new records that I do not have. My TT is a Technics SL-D202, phono stage can be from a Pioneer SX-780, Onkyo TX-4500 (fully refurbed :ntwrthy: ), Sansui QRX-3500, Technics SU-G75 (I think...), or a Sony TA-1055.
The vinyl that I REALLY want is:
Pictures at an Exhibition: $30
Stadium Arcadium: $40
Kraftwerk-Minimum/maximum:$50
Dark Side of the Moon: $25

Those are the records that I cannot get used, or would prefer a new copy of.

Can you guys help me? I know nothing about record cleaning besides that fact that I need it badly to ressurect some great vinyl!
I have heard that that $50 A-T cart is good for the price....

Just about all of the A-T cartridges sound good IMO. I just got a Nitty Gritty 1.0 record cleaning machine from my wife for Christmas (an early gift!) and I absolutely love it, but it runs about $325.00. As far as budget record cleaning, check out the "LAST" line of products. I would also recommend a carbon fiber brush. I don't know how much they are at MD but I bought one from Turntablebasics.com for $10.00. Not only do they sweep the dust off the records, but they also assist with anti-static.

Happy Holidaze!

Are you looking at the AT95E? I have one as a backup to my AT-440ML and it does sound good, but be aware that it's output is only 3.5mv so you may notice it being not quite as loud as one that is 5.0mv. My brother uses a Technics SL-D2 with a AT-90CD (universal mount) and it sounds surprisingly good. I didn't see one on MD, but Radio Shack will order you one for around $25.00 if they don't have it in stock.

Wow congrats !!

While I don't have personal experience w/ JICO's stylii I've heard really good things about them and the Shure V15III is one great cart. Don't discount it, it's a classic and still has quite the following.

As far as cleaning supplies...

a carbon fiber brush, some type of stylus brush and if it were me, I would build a DIY cleaning machine and get a good wet brush, (the DD or MOFI brushes come to mind.)
Then make a decision on your choice of cleaner-- or DIY your own fluid.

What a cool gift!

How do I pay online with the cards? Entered the number and info in the Comment section, and I see no way to select Gift card. Any one know?
