I'm delivering a Technics SL-D2 + a dozen or so records to my brother tonight for a Christmas present he's giving to my nephew. While going through my dupes and putting together the records for Nick, I had a flashback to LPs from Christmas past. I'm remembering Eagles and Pink Floyd titles being a big hit for me at Christmas time, scanning the cover art and liner notes while listening. I think he'll enjoy these titles -
ELP Greatest Hits
Simon and Garfunkel Greatest Hits
Jackson Browne - The Pretender
Steely Dan - Greatest Hits
Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin 4
Yes - Fragile
Heart - Dreamboat Annie
America - America
Joni Mitchell - Court and Spark

Why not throw in a copy of DSOTM ? He would probably love it.

He is sure gonna be happy. I know because I have almost all of those albums (or the sources of the greatest hits compilations). NICE! Another convert, hopefully.

Sounds like he'll be pretty happy; it's a solid table, and those are some great records. Reminds me of how my uncle got me into vinyl some years ago, with the gift of the first Led Zeppelin album, Bowie's ChangesOne and Heroes, DSOTM, and some others, along with a badass JVC boom box with a slide-out linear tracking turntable. While it's probably done some damage to the older parts of my collection (before I upgraded), it got me into the hobby, and that's what counts.

Wow, those are all great suggestions, thanks. I'm sure I've got dupes of many of these in the basement to include in the next batch I deliver to him. I found that I have five copies of DSOTM so no problem adding that one to the stack along with an Alan Parsons Project - Pyramid (alan parsons produced DSOTM). I limited this batch to a dozen or so because he needs to carry them with him to college back east.

Stone or Beatles was my brothers initial suggestion or "anything I like". The problem is that, besides my own collection, I rarely find any Stones or Beatles that isn't completely hammered so I didn't have any good dupes there...(and I only want to give clean vinyl)
I snuck the table and records into my brother's house tonight - and it will be a surprise for Nick tomorrow am. I was talking with him during the evening, and he asked me if he could stop by my place later this week to look at my turntables...well, sure.... My brother was very pleased with the table + the record selection, and asked me to get him one of these TTs. He said that Nick has Led Zeppelin 1, 2, and 3 on CD, so he'll be pumped to have 4, and that he loves DSOTM. Nick has one of my brother's old Technics integrated amps - a black faced 80 WPC model that had been sitting in the basement for 20 years. Should be a fun time for them tomorrow with the table and records... :music:
