View Full Version : new vinyl
TJLitt 12-26-2007, 02:54 PM ....well, used, but new to my growing stash. I felt the need to:
a)Blow some cash I got for Christmas and
b)Beef up the rock section of the vinyl,
so I headed off to a little store here in Berks County(West Reading, to be precise) that is good for such stuff. I dropped the princely sum of $40, and returned home to clean and listen to:
Led Zeppelin--The Song Remains the Same
Crosby, Stills and Nash--first album
Mountain--Flowers of Evil (still fondly remember a friend in college blasting
the live Roll Over Beethoven to near earmelt
volume levels)
The Kinks--Live at Kelvin Hall(German Mono pressing)
Aerosmith--Permanent Vacation
Jefferson Airplane--Bark(possibly Gracie at her best, and that's saying a lot)
Little Feat--Time Loves a Hero(replacing a battered copy)
this should make for a pleasant afternoon/evening......CSN in background,
as I type!:music:
BrocLuno 12-26-2007, 05:25 PM Nice selection. For J Airplane, try "Worst Of" on GRUNT - great collection of songs.
TJLitt 12-26-2007, 06:02 PM got that one, and agree completely. Saw a good copy of it in the store today as well!
Macdude 12-26-2007, 09:10 PM West Reading?! Did you go to Vertigo?
TJLitt 12-26-2007, 10:10 PM West Reading?! Did you go to Vertigo?
yes, I did!
Macdude 12-26-2007, 11:34 PM Awesome, I just picked up a few LPs there not too long ago. I got "China Crisis" and a few others. If you look up "Hazardous Materials" in their CD rack, you'll find my self-produced album.
It's cool to know there's an AK'er in the area. Do you ever get up to Record Connection in Ephrata? Or over to Zerns fleamarket?

very cool, will do. Sadly, I have to be there tomorrow, as the copy of Bark
is so badly warped as to toss my tonearm skyward. She deals with me pretty regularly, as I only live a few miles away, so I'm going to trade it for something else, straight-up.

RC, I just heard about from another AK'er....Zern's I do go to from time to time. The guy with the record store there has good stuff, have to watch his prices carefully, though. I take it "d-ville" is Douglasville?
RSL'67 12-27-2007, 08:29 AM Nice pick up! I live near Emmaus - I'll need to get down to this store - it's not that far from me.
Macdude 12-27-2007, 08:55 AM Ah! Warped albums! I picked up a copy of "Pacman Fever" by Buckner & Garcia at Vertigo once (a very happy day for me) only to find that it was horribly scratched and would not play.
I actually work in the record store at zerns (when they can afford to pay me) but I DON'T make up the prices. I know a lot of them are way too high, and I do what little I can about it. You may have seen me there, for the past few months I've been playing reels on a Teac A-1500 in the store. Either way, buy what you really want, because I hear we're closing shortly. The rent is increasing and we can't afford to stay open :tears:.
On a final note... GET TO RECORD CONNECTION! That place is awesome! Just be sure to make a list of what you're looking for, as you'll probably forget when you're overwhelmed by the selection in vinyl. And if Nathaniel is there (the dude who looks like he's straight out of 1986) tell him the boombox kid says hi :thmbsp:.
D'Ville = Douglassville
chiroman 12-27-2007, 09:22 AM Anyone ever go to Princeton Record Exchange? They have thousands of new and used Albums. Its an awesome place. I live in NC and visit family up here in NJ and always make a trip there. Due to time contraints I spent most time in the cd dept. picked up Can, Eno, ELP, Kraftwerk. Album wise got Canned Heat Vintage, 180g. and Underground Gold a collection of artist- Canned heat, Trffic, johnny Winter, Albert Collins, Spencer Davis and Jo-Ann Kelly.
Good thing I didnt have more time $ adds up quick... ha ha
Doug Olitsky 12-27-2007, 09:41 AM I'll put Infinity Records in the ring. Big selection fair prices.

Great selection!:thmbsp:
If you like Led Zeppelin the Classic Records catalog is no more but some albums are still around new.
Also, Mothership and The Song Remains the Same are currently being released and due out in March 2008.
These will be 1/2 speed masters on 180gram slabs!:D
