I love Johnny Winter and saw opportunity to upgrade my copy of his Second Winter album at the Bob Shop. Much better quality than my original from the 70's - cover looks like it's a later reprint as color is a bit washed out. But sound quality is everything I was hoping for.

I like Johhny best with this band before he went with Derringer and added "AND". Bobby Shannon on Bass, Edgar on keyboards and Sax, and Uncle Tom Turner on drums. Why he ever left Boddy Shannon I can't imagine.

Bobby Shannon's bass comes through loud and clear. A great recordidng to demo TT compared to CD sound. Some killer tracks on this 3 sided LP. Highway 61 Revisited, Johnny B. Goode, Miss Ann, Memory of Pain and I'm Not Sure.

My Johnny Winter favs are his first and second albums, and his real first album on another label - Progressive Blues Experiment again with Shannon and Turner. I feel he went to the comercial side after these - though he was still great. But these first 3 were true to his blues background.

I'm with you, Shacky. Johnny's a long-time favorite of mine, too. In addition to the music, I think it's Second Winter that has music on only three sides, with the fourth blank, great for setting anti-skating.

As for "AND" -- I saw Johnny, Rick et al in San Francisco in the early 70's -- either Winterland or Fillmore West, I can't remember which (and don't ask why). What a show!

Yep - 3 sided double LP. How do you use blank side to check anti skating?

Rick D was awesome too - I just liked it when Johnny played alone. Seemed to me he just tried harder.

Saw Rick Derringer at small club in Yorktown, NY - the Gemini. It was great being so close to him.

I believe it was Tommy Shannon. He went on to play with Stevie Ray Vaughan as part of Double Trouble. He is awesome on bass. Double Trouble played on most of the songs on Kenny Wayne Shepherd's "10 Days Out". If you like the blues I'd highly recommend this one.

Yep - that's Tommy. Maybe it's good he and Johnny went different paths so he could make all that magic with SRV.
