View Full Version : Open Invite - Polar Bear Jumpoff
Scorpion8 12-27-2007, 11:21 PM Yes Folks, that's right. The Annual Polar Bear Jump-off is coming at 14:00 local on January 1st at Auke Rec beach, Juneau, AK. Water temps are expected to be steady at ~38degF. Rules are ya gotta run into the bay, dive in to at least cover your head, and then you can come back out. Every participant gets a nice certificate of completion. Oh yea, and EMT services will be standing by.
Any takers to join me? An open invite to all. My wife will be there to drive my shivering old arse back home so rides are available.
Lemme know quickly.
clydeselsor 12-27-2007, 11:31 PM Have fun!
DENNYDOG 12-27-2007, 11:35 PM Looking to do this next month in St Peter, MN. I think it is on the 18th if I'm not mistaken.
I'm still not sure if I've got the balls to do it yet though. I figure since I live in Minnesota it's one of those got to's that you can tell everyone you did. One of the guys from work did it last year and I think maybe a few more are doing it this year.
Good luck and let me know how it went.
Dennis

BroonsBane 01-01-2008, 05:35 PM Good man!! I'm glad you did it. It is a very liberating experience...of your nuts that is ;)
Web Police 01-01-2008, 05:41 PM Nice an warm for you. They do that in Minnesota too, although the air temp this morning was 2 and the water temps was 32. They have to use chain saws to cut a hole in the ice. :D
DENNYDOG 01-01-2008, 06:00 PM Funny this is it looks like they are all smiling!
Unless that picture was taken before they jumped in?
Scorpion8 01-01-2008, 06:51 PM Yup on both accounts. Everyone was smiling as it aids in the accumulation of fortissimo, and puts a lid on your sanity. And yelling as they ran into the water. I think my quote was "You wanna live forever?!"
