I had not heard this in years. Excellent. I cannot figure out the goofy ending. They dropped it down a notch with this simple minded ending.

Sandy G 12-28-2007, 10:04 PM Maybe it was just Oldfield's way of winking & grinning at people..."TB" overall is a pretty intense, serious, even a bit frightening, "Heavy-Duty" work, the "Sailor's Hornpipe" was a way to end it up on a happy note... daddydlb 12-28-2007, 11:47 PM There are several versions. I prefer the original one, without the whole symphony. Which one were you referring to? avionic 12-28-2007, 11:57 PM Which one were you referring to? Macdude 12-31-2007, 12:06 AM Odd this thread should pop up.. Just picked up a copy of "Exposed" in SQ Quad. It's an import and contains a live recording of Tubular Bells. It sounds really cool on my quad system. I'd still love to get his "Boxed" lp, also in quad. It's available on the itunes store and I think it retains the quad encoding. :music: how many more times can I say quad? vinyldavid 12-31-2007, 12:52 AM I taped aprt of it off of the radio, and want everything that he has ever done. Vinyl only, of course. levensnevel 03-15-2008, 11:10 PM Not sure if it is an urban story .. But the stiry goes as follows: Richard Branson, who had just started Virgin Records, bought very hi tech recording equipment and was looking for someone who was able to explore the e limits of this equipment. Someone pointed him in the direction of a certain Mike Oldfield. Then locally know for his wizzardy in the dubbing area and who was rather unsuccessfull to find a record company who was willing to record his very ambitious symphonic project. Richard Branson decided to give Mike Oldfield a change. And the endresult we now all know as Tubular Bells. softmachine 03-15-2008, 11:11 PM Like it, but love ommadawn and his late 70s-80s works (crises, five miles out, etc..) stuwee 03-15-2008, 11:25 PM What movie was that from?
