I spent some time during the holidays at my mom's house. While there, she asked what I was going to do with the stuff I stored in a closet after my divorce some 15 years ago. So I took the time and went browsing. To my delight, I found a Pioneer PL-560 in excellent condition with the exception of the usual missing feet and a missing stylus from the Shure V15 Type III cartridge. But I also found two replacement stylii in a box next to it, a Discwasher system, a Parastat MK4 maintenance kit, a Zerostat, and a Watts disc preener. Those will come in handy to clean up the 60 something albums that were stacked neatly on a back shelf. A quick check of the vinyl found them all to be in NM condition since I had the habit of playing them once and recording to tape and then storing them in VRP sleeves. With the exception of a couple of them having normal wear of the covers, all are close to new.
So as the rain falls today, I will be spending time bringing the TT back to life and cleaning vinyl. I'm thinking this would be nice to get running before New Year's Eve so that I can hook everything up to the 8080 and listening to some real music again.

That's great! It's a cross between getting a late unexpected Christmas present and finding a personal time capsule. Man, I know what I'd spend New Years Eve doing! Happy listening! :thmbsp:

I love finding stuff that I've completely forgot about. Better yet when it is audio related.
Have a Happy New Year!

thedruid, I know how you feel, when my Dad had his old stereo shipped over from the Philippines and my albums and 45s'...well those that survived that I hadn't seen in 30 years, I felt the same way. I knew where every click and pop was on the record, still doing some major cleaning too. Great story guy, it's good to see "old friends" reunited
