Hey -
So THIS is where the secret meetings are held. I just signed-up and am 6 posts old.
Just an ol’ blues piano player with a mish-mash of working and half-working pieces including Sony reel to reels, a couple old Fisher tubulus nimbus, Yamaha receivers, Phase Linear 400, Various turntables, Snell Type A’s, etc. etc.
This place feels like it just might be the home I didn’t even know I was looking for. An old dog in Michigan hoping to learn any tricks at all. No deep experience in electronics – definitely in the ‘adult apprentice’ category. ‘Got some screwdrivers, a VOM, some tuner cleaner, a soldering iron and some patience.
The camaraderie here is giving me the confidence to try and take on my sick patients in an orderly fashion, one at a time. I figure I’m either going to end up w/ more properly-operating lumps… or more room in the studio.
Annnnnd….. if things go exceedingly well, I’ll get to once again hear those lovely words from my wife, as I carry some great new deal from the car, “What are you gonna’ do with THAT!?”
