I've only recently gotten into the hi-fi audio stuff.. before, i was satisfied with my sony ex70 earbuds. (hanging head in shame).

My roommate pointed me over to some Grado Labs SR80s, and I had to have them.. Then... it all started.

Now, it's starting to mess with my life. All I do at work is read audioreview.com, browse audiogon.com, and itch to go home to listen to my system.

It is now 3:30am, I have class at 11:00am, but I can't seem to get these Grados off of my head.. I just keep thinking "one more song...". Last night I went to bed at 5:00am and had to wake up at 9:00am for class. I just can't take these Grados off of my head.. the sound is sooo sweet, smoth like butter through the marantz. I can't get enough. It's better than crack. If I had a naked girl on my bed right now beckoning me to come, I probably wouldn't notice or care.

Man, hi-fi audio will be the end of me.

Anyone else royally get screwed over by addictive listening habits? :)

Yep, I came home from work Friday night at 2 am. Put my Sony MDR-V600 headpones on cause I wanted it loud. ( I can adjust the treble and bass on my receiver to get it just right) I too was saying just one more song. I finally went to bed about 11 am Saturday , 9 hours later. I needed two days of quiet after to let my ears recover.:)
In my opinion to find loudspeakers that can match the detail of these cans I'd have to spend 8 to 10 thousand bucks.

Gosh, it has been a long time since I've used either pair of headphones. Mebbe I should see what I'm missing.

Late hours goes with college-daze. Good luck.

Bully, Any of the Grados from the SR-60 on up, the better Sony's (sealed) and the Sennheiser's are a good place to start.

addictive, you should try a pair of Stax if you get the chance! Mine make loudspeakers entirely superfluous...

I have a nice pair of Sony's around here. VR-6's or something like that. And another pair of something, a bit smaller.

It is an addiction. I will second the Stax "ear speakers"

...are we seeing in the picture?? Myself, I have the SR-5 earspeakers with the SRA-3S driver (single-ended tube). I've been using the thing with a Headroom Static unit, which seems to do nothing for the music, but it reduces ear fatigue by a big factor.

Stax, eh? I've been thinking of getting some etymotics for walking around and listening to music off the iPod.. but, hmm.

Any links to reviews? How much are they going for?

Dang it, i just got my axiom m3tis in the mail and I've been listening to them non-stop now, I can't get enough! Smashing Pumpkins, Diana Krall, The Spaniels, Mozart.. all sound amazing. This marantz 2220b is an awesome unit!

I'll have to check out the stax, thanks for the rec. :)

I hear (pardon the phrase) that Etymotics are very, very good. Just know if you can stand to have something stuck in your ear before you buy.

My friend just got a pair of ety ER4Ps and they rock! That is if you like the isolation. Super detailed!
Best cans I ever heard? Stax Omega IIs.
Kertong, if you like the Grado sound, shoot for the 325s. I got em and like em.
