This guy needs to stay hidden... This is just too strange of an ad... Maybe there is a reason he can't find another "shelly"

And I thought a bunch of folks who argue endlessly on the merits of cables, watts, tube vs. transistors, and the like, were odd.

See, we're ok!??!

Getting warm 'n' fuzzy over old radios, TVs, & cars 'n' stuff I understand, but over an obsolete operating system ? Sheesh...

Actually, I kinda like his "individualism". Most people are too much like sheep, just following the leader. I can't say I agree with his last statement though. ;) BTW, similost, I'm not even gonna ask how you found that ad, lol. :D

Ha, Shells. There fun but not really practical anymore. I play around with MS DOS and other text based interfaces from time to time but that is just for fun. Although when I started using a computer (at the age of two) my dad gave me a Tandy with a 386 in it running dos with a kermit shell. Still have it around somewhere, although I think it has Windows 3.1 on it.

Well you know, Valentines Day is approaching and he probably felt inspired to write such a romantic invitation to pursue love in the faraway land of syntax.

But what do I know...

Text interfaces are great and all for certain tasks, but this guy takes it to another level. Ever tried to use a text-based web browser?

Yes. It is not pretty. (I actually couldn't figure the darn thing out.)

Well, he's willing to move [see: IF STONE(ROTATION) > 1 THEN MOSS(PROPAGATION) = 0], and wants kids [C:\COPY A:\DAD\*.DNA+B:\MOM\*.DNA C:\BABY.EXE], so he seems to have a purpose behind all this.

I guess it's better than the old Hacker pickup line: "Wanna connect at 768000?"

I wouldn't take this posting at face value, it's just a mating display. If the right woman sees this, they'll have an enjoyable relationship. Thing is...this kind of right woman is very, very rare indeed...

He is in the right place I would imagine "the right woman" is probably using the computer vice going to the bars or something!

You know, me finding a girl even close to my interests was about the odds of him finding someone, so it might just happen, if you take this post at face value...

Just replace all that "shell" nonsense with "vinyl" and related descriptors and it's really not that crazy.

"I'm looking for someone who is willing to raise a child in the way of vinyl..."

Might as well let monkeys raise your child..."shell" and "vinyl" are both such archaic and obsolete technologies....*RUNS AND HIDES*:smoke:

Guys, its a joke. If someone was advertising on craigslist for a woman to raise kids with and teach them from a young age the benefits of expensive cables over merely good ones, or of clocks with stickers, or Marantz over Pioneer (or vice versa), or HPM-100's over ADS L-810's, or the potential benefits and drawbacks of brussels sprouts, would you take the ad seriously?

John

P.S. can ya guess what I do for a living? :para: I'm a *nix geek. No, it's not my ad. :D
