View Full Version : Morning Maintenance?

It has become my habit to open AK shortly after awakening each morning to scan new threads and replies. The last 3 or 4 mornings, I've checked out a few threads and suddenly, the forum locks up. This has occurred between 4:00 and 4:05 AM EST. Other websites load and work with no problems. Is there some new forum maintenance being performed regularly at this time?

I don't know about the maintenance but I know you are waking up WAY too early!

I'm guessing it is your ISP, not AK, that is doing maintenance then. I have been on AK around 4 a.m. the last couple of days (don't ask!) with no problems.

The server company used to do managed backups at 6 am, Central time, but that was changed, recently to 3 am, Central;, which would be 4 am, Eastern. It only lasts for a few minutes, but, when it occurs, you get a vBulletin error message page saying, "Database Error". Close your browser window, and reopen, in a few minutes, and all should be well, again.
It could be worse, folks. You could be at your desk, in London, England, and sign in, at 9 am, only to find that you can't get it!
The managed backups should totally prevent that nonsense we had, back a couple of years ago, when the former host eradicated our database.
A necessary evil.

No complaints, just curious. I'm also glad that there was a reason it was happening. I hate it when I'm the only one weird things happen to. You all hear voices coming out of your coffee makers too, right?:D

I don't drink coffee. Although my car does have its own free will. :D

Hmm, thanks, Ernie, guess I've just been lucky (or misreading the clock - quite possible at 4 a.m.!)
